Unfortunately it looks like it’s just Cohen’s words as there are no recordings or documentation of it. So while I’m sure it’s true, I don’t think it will do much as it will just look like he’s giving Mueller’s team what they want to save his own skin. And I’m sure Mueller would try to corroborate another witness to this conversation and if he can’t, he won’t do anything with it.

There's a trend here. People who never visit the political section, usually new accounts, seem to go straight to this thread to defend Trump. Acting as if Trump is the only politician in the history of the Hype to ever have had negative things said about him.

Obama was bashed here from time to time as well. There were even some who bought into birtherism. So, it's not like Trump is this little angel we're all unfairly ganging up on. It's more like even staunch republicans that used to post here regularly refuse to defend him purely because of party affiliation.

If his supporters want the negative stories to end, tell Trump to quit creating daily controversies. Tell Trump to stay off Twitter. Tell Trump to stop being such a **** human being. We're mostly reacting to what Trump does/says. I'd love more days where we didn't wake up to some stupid, or infuriating story.

Everyone knows Cheetoh inherited a mess of economy. The unemployment rate was 4.7%, vs a median rate of 5.6% since 1948. There were job gains for 75 straight months. So yeah, he really turned this ship around.

If someone wants to give Trump credit for maintaining the positive growth which began under Obama, I won't argue with them (though we'll see if it survives the tariffs), but this idea perpetuated by Trump himself and regurgitated by his followers that he, in his own words, "inherited a mess" and turned the economy around, is just a patently false narrative. He inherited a strong growing economy and thus far has continued the trend he inherited.

The GDP number is good — but not as good as Donald Trump Jr. seems to think

CNBC’s John Harwood articulated where this quarter would rank under other recent presidents. It would be:

The fifth best quarter under Obama
Tied for the fifth best under George W. Bush
Tied for the 13th best under Bill Clinton
Tied for the fifth best under George H.W. Bush
The 14th best under Reagan

Again: It’s a good number! It’s just not particularly unusual, even when compared with what the country saw under Obama.

It’s important to note, though, that this 4.1 percent figure is not final. There are almost always revisions to initial GDP estimates as more data come in — and usually upward.

To surpass the best quarter under Obama, though — the second quarter of 2014 — it will need to increase by a full percentage point. Unlikely.

To make Trump Jr.’s tweet accurate? History will have to change.
