LOL Is there anything sillier than a typo in a thread title...

...what ever Dacman, you are just like all those other retrads that think everything in the comics would translate well to the big screen.Sava said:...what ever Dacman, you are just like all those other retrads that think everything in the comics would translate well to the big screen.
i agree with the point you were making earlier, Wolverine is a badass character, how many badasses wear bright yellow costumes?AVEITWITHJAMON said:Well IMO most of it would translate, but there are things that just wouldnt translate, no matter what spin is put on them, comics and film are a different medium, therefore it makes it impossible to translate certain things.

Wolverine for one.Sava said:Wolverine is a badass character, how many badasses wear bright yellow costumes?

Bright colurs are a must in comic books, lets face it. when it comes to comic books, we will believe anything. Whuile we are at it, why not just go and have Hulk and Xmen fight in space, it happenes in the comics right5, lets also have Hulk destroy a comet half the size of Earth, that s**t happenes in the comics. Even if they did manage to make Wolve's costume with the same colurs work, they would have changed it ALOT. Spidey's costume in the comics is great, thats why its so easy to transform to the big screen. There are saome characters easier to transform to the big screen thatn others, Spidey is easy and Wolverine isnt so.Ions said:Wolverine for one.![]()
I guess it goes along with the hulk poodle, was that comical? I know people were expecting it to be prior to the films release. I didn't find it funny at all.
As for the costume, a talented artist, and a serious tone will counter any preconceived 'Bright yellow costumes' reactions. Who said bright yellow? Yellow is a colour right? A designer can pick whichever shade of yellow best fits the outfit, that's what they do. His yellow and brown outfit would look quite cool.
DACMAN's picture post of the cosplay/crappy tv series costumes vs final movie should give an example of what's possible.![]()

Fight in space? Why? When did fighting in space become important parts of a characters quintessence? And to back up your position you make a asinine exaggeration? Why does all things comic have to all or nothing? Going to extremes to make a point about something that has no extremes, and is not being talked about as an extreme really is pointlessly defensive. Costumes can work, many films have succeeded doing so.Sava said:Bright colurs are a must in comic books, lets face it. when it comes to comic books, we will believe anything. A-ha! You admit it is possible.Sava said:There are saome characters easier to transform to the big screen thatn others, Spidey is easy and Wolverine isnt so.

thats what Dacman seems to think, if everything work in the comics, so it should work in the big screen too. Costumes can work and do, mostly cause they are realistic or have dark colours. Other than Superman, i cant think of anyone in the comicbooks films weve had so far wearing bright colours or Yellow and Blue.Ions said:Fight in space? Why? Faithful adaptions have also worked. Why this is suddenly not true for X-men, I have no idea.
if they had done it like in the comics, more people would have rolled their eyes than go "f**k yeah...thats the realy Wolverine!".Ions said:A-ha! You admit it is possible.

Erm, weren't you replying to me? nah, part of my other post was aimed at Dacman. IMO Super and Spidey are the easiest of the comicbook characters to translate in the big screen.Ions said:Erm, weren't you replying to me? Or are you accusing me of being DACMAN as well now?![]()
I didn't say all things comic have to be translated, alot just can't work. A comic series has endless time to tell stories. A movie doesn't. At best a series will hit 4-5 films.
As for rolling their eyes, how many did that to Spider-man/Superman? Whether it's accepted or not is down to execution.
That's why I don't like either. Spider-man especially. A character that's been so heavy worked into the every man, with all sorts of normal human life problems. Ugh, feels so fake.Sava said:IMO Super and Spidey are the easiest of the comicbook characters to translate in the big screen.
guess i disagree then, its not like i love the character or anything but he is the perfect hero for the genral public IMO. I just think they had more reason to change the costumes than not to.Ions said:That's why I don't like either. Spider-man especially. Didn't Superman push the moon?DACMAN said:Superman has five movies. FIVE! We HULK fans have one. In his five movie run, Supes has done some strong stuff. Lifting an island sized mass in the new movie is easily the strongest thing he's done out of them all. HULK's strongest feat has been throwing a tank. What would you like to see the HULK do to prove that he's "THE STRONGEST ONE THERE IS!"
No, I never said EVERYTHING in comics would translate well to the screen. The alien costume in Spider-Man could never be done well in the movie. But as far as visuals, I think if it works in the comics, and it can be twicted for the movie. Personally, I think Wolverine's old yellow and black costume was lame. They'd have to update it much like they did in "Enemy of the State" story line, or the New X-Men comic. But to just go "nope, can't be done" seems lazy.Sava said:thats what Dacman seems to think, if everything work in the comics, so it should work in the big screen too.
