FEBRUARY 2008 SALES CHARTS & MARKET SHARE REPORT- X-Force is #1

Maybe they were just his favorite panels, and these are just homages to the original artist?

Nah, an homage is what Eaton did in Thor #76's first few pages, where Magni finds Mjolnir and the art is basically a direct copy of the scenes in Journey into Mystery #83 where Don Blake is first transformed into Thor. That was done for a specific purpose and it made sense. Just grabbing other artists' work and inserting it into your own willy-nilly isn't an homage, it's straight up plagiarism.
I agree.

I personally feel that the sales for ASM will drop off. Heh at least I really f***ing hope so :o
Keep dreaming. Love him or hate him, you have to hand it to Joe Q: it was a smart business move to stack BND with so much fan-favorite talent that it'd wash the bad taste of OMD away for most readers. Many, many, many, many people enjoy ASM now without a care in the world for OMD.

But Ultimatum is supposed to make the Ultimate comics exciting again!!!!!!

Seriously, does anyone even care about the Ultimate comics at all anymore?

If you go into the Ultimates thread, you'll see that there are are (the downside being that you'd have to go in the Ultimates thread). Believe or not, but there are people who believe the Ultimate Universe to be better than the 616 in nearly every way.

Truely. There are a few in there who say this, while being fully adamant of the fact that they nothing of the 616, and that Brubaker's Cap run "sucks."

Not bad. I actually read 7 out of the top ten. Of course X-Force has to be number 1 with the man Wolverine in it!!!

More hard numbers.

For the bad news, this is the second time within 4 months that comic & graphic novel sales across the industry are down, 4%. As IcV notes, that follows a 1% rise in Janurary, a 4% rise in Dec. and a 5% drop in November.

Only three titles sold 100k and X-FORCE at #1 sold 105k.

Insiders say the gap between Marvel & DC widened considerably during and after 2007 according to sales. But what is the cause? The nation wide recession? Event fatigue? Jock itch? Or is it just one of those rare months between events that did it?

Some at THE BEAT are blaming DC's lull on dragging sales down.
