For that type Bryan/Punk feud, they would have to examine Michaels/Jericho in 2008 and how they handled the promos and story. Jericho exposed Michaels' flaws and dark history, but Michaels never turned. As well as Hogan/Savage. I didn't see that feud, but I recently watched the 25 Best Feuds in Wrestling History, and CM Punk spoke about that feud, how the MegaPowers exploded, and how Savage's paranoia seemed justified. Neither Savage or Hogan turned heel, right? They maintained their face status.

Savage turned heel in the feud with Hogan but there was enough there for fans to support Savage if they chose, I mean it gave Jesse Ventura great ammo for commentary. These days that type of angle would really be great if they stopped short of going full heel and allow the fans to choose who they wanted to cheer for.

The good thing about Cesaro is that the man is an amazing spectacle who's able to pull off some amazing feats. Along with the Big Swing, the superplex from the apron to inside the ring, and the Swiss Death. But he hasn't even done anything as surprising as what he did in the ending of his 2 out of 3 falls match against Sami Zayn on NXT. When he's allowed to show those feats on RAW, he'll get even more over.

I agree that Cesaro has a lot in his locker to get fans into him, especially these days when the in ring performance is appreciated more by the live crowds than it used to be. He is still gonna need a character hook though in the same way Bryan got to the next level when he started to forge a personality.

Don't know if this has been posted before but Bray Wyatt offered a kayfabe explanation as to what happened to Husky Harris (his previous gimmick) and it's creepy as hell :woot:

That is creepy...and awesome! :applaud

After the Seattle Seahawks victory in the NFC Championship game last night, many fans are talking about Richard Sherman's post game interview. Robert Flores of ESPN and many others are comparing it to a promo from wrestling. CM Punk took to Twitter to discuss this and made a jab at a few people in the process.

I saw this over at the Wrestlezone, the comments underneath are quality, I love how easily Punk works his haters. :funny:

There were like 10 of them so I couldn't find a specific one. :hehe:

Those two will tear down the house when they get a chance to work one on one in a long singles feud. Nothing on the card will compare to their matches. We've only gotten a mere taste of what they can offer.

Christ that's a creepy response. I like it.

I love Bray Wyatt's response and it's so perfectly in character that it works.

Ever since he appeared on developmental FCW television as this character, his use of kayfabe has been perfect. Even from that very first promo with Eli Cottonwood lurking in the background, you could tell this was going to be something special.

I'd link the promo in the post, but I'm at work and YouTube is blocked here. Somebody wanna help a brother out and share with the rest if they haven't seen it?

Savage turned heel by attacking Hogan backstage after he ditched him during a tag team match and Hogan was the face at the time due to Savage being paranoid, but if you go back and watch it now, The Macho Man was actually the face of the feud because he was telling the truth: Hogan was stealing his thunder and getting too friendly with Elizabeth.

That's why the Savage Vs. Hogan feud from 1989 is one of my favorite feuds. Great storytelling and the fact it took a whole year for The Mega Powers to explode in arguably Hogan's best workrate match.

Talk about literally trying to steal someone else's thunder. Heck, the only time I remember AJ Lee getting a big reaction from the WWE Universe was when she did the "Yes Chants" after having knocked CM Punk and Bryan into each other and onto a table.
This! While she has gotten better in the ring and on the mic, she didn't deserve to be the longest reigning Divas champion. She's not hot and if she hadn't mooched off Bryan's heat to begin with, fans in general wouldn't have given a flying fu** about her!

Supposed Vince McMahon and Ultimate Warrior letter from 1991 surface online. Pretty damning stuff here.
Warrior made his threat which caused him to lose his job for awhile so on the Self-Destruction DVD, they were right about Warrior "putting the gun to Vince's head". However, they were misleading about it happening the day of SummerSlam 1991 instead of one month prior to it.

“Vince-
Writing this is a different approach in expressing my feelings about the things we discussed the last 2 days under the pressure of TV. knowing that any second someone would be knocking on the door, etc. Every other avenue we tried – via phone, face to face, myself still walking away with unanswered questions. Always put off till a later date. Always with the same result – no result.

Writing sometimes allows a person to express feelings or say things that don’t come in conversations such as we have. Some of the things will once again become repetitive – so what I’ve heard “in an Essence” at least a million times. I’ve tried to speak as a friend but sometimes you don’t hear. I’ve spoken as a professional but the direction always gets changed. No you never let me leave with-out a response, but the words you speak never have any definitives. My whole life for the last 5 years has had no room for anything but definitive (Los Angeles on Thurs, San Diego on Friday, San Francisco Sat. Sacramento on Sunday, Prime Time on Monday…) but you always have to have the best way of time. Time to say stew things over to work them your way.

I have been from day 1 different from the others. I have sacrificed myself enough both in my personal life and physical well being. The fairness you say you want everyone to have is unfair to me. I grew in 5 (five) years to become what the “Ultimate Warrior” is today, Always questioning, but nonetheless taking him in the direction you wanted him to go at any particular time. Done what would and has taken other 10-15 years.
The points and suggestions you have made over the last 5 years were very well taken. Now I look at other individuals with less than 1/3 the creativity, desire and hunger I had (have) and wonder how you can look and see them as The One. For you as a friend I pray all the things you believe in rise to the surface and present themselves.

Then there is the side that says “What the f man?” When I was thought of as The One the topics of conversation were – “Treat the veterans with respect”. The veterans you spite are the very ones who will **** it up for you. No matter I listened. I would go to ring push myself to the brink of a heart attack and you would say “When you go to the corner – SMILE?!?! you spoke of the Ultimate Warrior appealing to all, old, young, ugly, beautiful, fat, skinny, black, white.

A character who would show ups and downs emotions and intensities, sensitivities and cold-heartedness when it was needed. Like a yo-yo I obliged so I could be The One. Where the hell are this man’s ups and downs. – Total jugular-vein popping yelling at all times. Is this the Total Picture, character, or presentation that can be The One? I learned with you to show intensity at this level but also to show just as much intensity with the look of my eyes or with the whisper of my voice or even better – extreme intensity in total silence. I did all you asked.
The the long-term plan changed. At first I was reluctant for what I believed were the right reasons – but once again I went with what I knew I could believe in – “Vince has never ****ed me” I dealt with what you thought was best no matter what the cost to me. , no matter the countless # of sleepless nights there were to come, no matter the # of times I had to knock on your door with questions I should never have had.

For the last 2 1/12 years I should have never had the questions I did. To stand and make a videotaped apology for something I never did made me realize all we have is business. Once again I went without sleep, if ever I do so again it will be because I elect to, not because my wandering mind says to do so. In reaching this conclusion I ask for these things. You say 500,000 for Wrestlemania is unfair, then I say the last 8 1/2 years of not being compensated equally when I meant as much or more to the company was total ******** and most definitely unfair.

I have sacrificed more than 500,000 more than 1 million dollars, even more in monies that should have been paid to mein receiving equal compensation as Hulk. I paid my goddamn dues long ago. I need not pay anymore. I have given everything and never once was there a knock on my ****ing door. Whether to ******** as a friend or help me thru my times of need or you trusting me to help you thru yours.

I ask for these things Vince and the answers must come for the next event is upon you. It has been for me the 5 years and for you to tell me you need to evaluate whether or not I’m cost-effective and this takes time us unfair. A show runs at a given time and date – I have always been there, never asking for time to see if I have the rest, food or whatever it takes to make it. Now I ask the same of you.

I want (1) $550,000 release from the monies allotted me to purchase my home. This will suffice as my Wrestlemania VII payoff, but let it be noted it is not fair. I meant as much or more to that show as Hulk – I deserve to be paid the same (I know what Hulk will get)
(2) 4 days off every other time off period – except Pay Per View only.

(3) I want the same pay cut as Hulk gets on all Pay-Per-Views, SNME, FRIDAY PRIMETIME, house shows and proof as such. The same pay cut applies to what Hulk has been paid with relationship to past events Wrestlemania V, VI, VII i.e when Hulk was top draw.

(4) I want numbers and proof of monies done on 1-900-Hulk and likewise same pay cut.

(5) Same pay cut on all forms of merchandising. Because I have had to always knock on your door Words alone are not good enough. I understand Doug Sages is on Vacation, call him take his days off away like you do to the boys and myself and have it written.

Everytime I had to knock upon your door upon leaving I have always apologized. I no long feel I have any reason to apologize, Therefore I will not. I have tried to speak as a friend, but maybe I don’t have the qualities you required to seek me out as a friend. The videotaped apology was the icing on the cake – you see it as business so whether I like it or not I must do the same. Whatever your decision I can and will live with it Till then I remain home with one who cares
-Jim”

Vince's reply:
“Dear Jim:
This letter is in response to your facsimile to me of July 10, 1991.
1. You will be paid an aggregate amount of $550,000 (five-hundred-fifty-thousand) for your participation in WrestleMania VII.

2. With the exception of special events only, you will receive four days off every other time off period.

3. Your pay rate on house shows will increase to 4-5% of the net, effective immediately, with the understanding that no other WWF athlete will be paid at a higher rate. Likewise, no other WWF athlete will be paid at a higher pay rate than you on pay-per-view events.

4. Effective immediately, your royalty rate on all forms of merchandise is to be increased. The specific amount will be determined in writing within one week.

5. Your compensation for the Warrior 900 hotline will be identical to that of the Hulk 900 hotline. Likewise, documentation for this will follow in writing within one week. I regret the turmoil you’ve put yourself though and your agonizing over what you feel is fair compensation. And even though we have a difference of opinion over some of these matters, I am resolved to work with you in the same honest and equitable way that I always have.

Furthermore, I would like to express to you my deepest appreciation and admiration for you as a performer, as a member of the WWF family, as a man and as my friend.
- Vince“

I would have had so much fun in that crowd. I wonder if **** like this is why they won't take chances with the Grand Ballroom (even though a company with less exposure sells that out 4 times a year for 8 years now).

Jake "The Snake" Roberts recently interviewed with the Busted Open radio show on SiriusXM 92. Hosts Doug Mortman and Dave Lagreca talked with Roberts about a variety of topics, including his recent return to WWE, on overcoming the challenges in his life, Ultimate Warrior's Hall of Fame induction, and more.
One of the more newsworthy quotes coming out of the interview was Jake's response to Ultimate Warrior's Hall of Fame induction this year in New Orleans.
"..maybe they're taking in *******s and not great talent. I don't know." Jake said.
Warrior and Roberts worked together in the early 90's, and Roberts has said in previous interviews that Warrior cost him money during that time. Roberts was even quoted last year calling Warrior the "Ultimate Jackoff".
Regarding his own induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, Roberts said the following:
"Well, whether you deserve it or not is not up to me man. And my life isn't dependent upon that. If it doesn't happen this year, maybe it'll happen next year. I can only hope."

As mediocre as the WWE Product is right now, they could easily fill 8,000 of the 10,000 seats in that arena.

After that return and the reaction he got, he should go in this year. Especially after how he's cleaned himself up. DDP better induct him. Pr DiBiase.

Shortest Kane interview ever. :funny:

Since Bryan's follow-up on last night is still being promoted for Raw tonight, I have a good feeling that Bryan will appear for a promo segment since he's atleast in a fine enough mental state to attend a 49ers-Seahawks game with Brie Bella. So I wonder if he avoided severe forms of retrograde amnesia.

I can't fathom the idea that Jake wouldn't be inducted this year or next in the least.

Also I watched the ultimate warrior documentary again recently. I have no idea how much is fabricated , but it's interesting Hogan seemed neutral for the most part. Flair is very frank. It doesn't seem like Heenan or Dibiase were being dishonest about they're feelings. Ross and Gene seemed like they were being directed. Is there a breakdown

They could have him do light stuff for the next couple weeks. Have a promo tonight. Maybe he gets jumped on the way into the rumble match. Then have the blow off match at elimination chamber.

I'd save it for the end and just ask him why he hates Isaac Yankem so much. :oldrazz:

Isn't it a shame that there are too many hours of WWE Television and an overreliance on rematches to a point where feuds can no longer be gradually slowburned as the participants move up the card?

Look at how many times Bret and Shawn went at it in their singles careers:

IC title match - 1992:
[YT]OPh7sBcWDDw[/YT]

Ladder Match - 1992:
[YT]_gg-oHWsvpg[/YT]

Tag match with Macho Man and Ric Flair:
[YT]JK0tvpJiJBk[/YT]

Champion vs Champion at Survivor Series '92:
[YT]YpJddNlGjxc[/YT]

The Knights vs The Harts at Survivor '93:
[YT]atDEbd_oXcA[/YT]

WWE Superstars match in 1994:
[YT]JX-3dKiSqMM[/YT]

Wrestlemania 12 Iron Man Match:
[YT]YPGApqjJQzY[/YT]

Survivor Series '97:
[YT]PWFp2C5sLbQ[/YT]

That doesnt even count their rivalry in the tag team division or the Cage Match they had in 93 either. I honestly love seeing "Career long feuds" escalate as the participants move up the card but sadly WWE cant do that anymore because they do too many TV and PPV rematches at a time now.

If Handled right Dolph Ziggler/Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes/Orton or even Daniel Bryan/Dolph Ziggler could have been this type of thing.

HHH vs The Rock

HHH vs Mick Foley

Bret vs Shawn

Stone Cold vs The Rock

Edge vs Jeff Hardy (to a lesser extent)

All of those above are successful examples of feuds handled in this fashion but WWE's oversaturation of rematches makes the audiences got bored of this too quickly these days.

Anyway, ultimately do any of you guys miss "Career-long" rivalries for guys that are set to be the number 1 and 2 guys?

We’ve noted recently how there are money problems surrounding Bill Goldberg’s WWE return deal. The latest word was that Goldberg and WWE were very far apart on money.

In recent months there was a hangup over creative decisions surrounding his return and the two sides were believed to be “within reason” on money. However, now word is that Goldberg budged on his price and when WWE didn’t agree, he upped the asking price for a return. While things were initially looking good from a monetary prospective, they’re now described as far apart once again.

To go with this, it’s said Goldberg has little interest in a match against Roman Reigns. Goldberg is believed to have other opportunities on the table and at this point a deal for him to work at WrestleMania XXX does not look like it’s going to happen.
