🇺🇸 Fell Out of a Coconut Tree, It's Kamalot: The Kamala Harris Thread

US News
She needs a somewhat better response. As the candidate at the top of the ticket and possible future president you're gonna have to learn how to deflate hecklers and interruptions better than 'You want Trump to win.'

Like..."Your speech doesn't get to silence my speech. Go talk to the media. Not on my time."

If not for Kamala, then Maya Rudolph. Sista gotta eat.

I don't think Kamala handled that well at all, these might be people who have had relatives die in Gaza. Should have had a more compassionate response.

I don’t know if I could distinguish everything that was being chanted, but I doubt anyone concerned for Gaza would be chanting USA as a protest - that would be the MAGAs. Also now Biden has been replaced and Josh Shapiro not been chosen as running mate, I would think there’s more hope for anyone from that background.

There’s room for improvement, sure, but at the same time an aged Biden and Trump are the last 2 winning presidents. It’s been a while since the likes of Obama, Clinton (Bill) and Reagan where presidents were impressive public speakers fully adept at handling this kind of thing. She’ll grow into the role. Her speeches and reactions to heckling till now weren’t anywhere near as important, but this is a different Kamala to what we knew before and I’m optimistic she’s going to keep improving.

They were protesting for Palestine, there are several videos.

Ok, I think this particular group need to be handled more sensitively than MAGAs and also Dems should still be fighting for their votes. If it was obvious that the heckling was coming from them then that should be taken into account when responding.

Netanyahu cares about his interests more than Israel. His entire political platform has been about ensuring Israel stays in conflict with Palestinians and he remains in power. Backing BiBi to the hilt is not going to be looked at kindly in the history books.
As soon as Israel started acting unilaterally all support should have been cut off. Netanyahu has been the biggest disaster for world peace in that region.

I understood why we stood with Isreal after what happened on October 7th, as a country we know what a mass terror attack looks like, however, as you said, when it became obvouis Netanyahu decided he was essentially going to wipe out Palestine thats when we should have stopped our support, i think Harris has been pretty clear she has more sympathy for the Palestine people, and she will be more open to helping than Trump or any Republican, i understand people being upset, but their anger being focused on Biden and Harris makes no sense, Trump is a massive allie of Isreal and supports what they are doing, i find it odd the protestors arent protesting Trump as well, he isnt going to make things better for their people.

I guess protesting the one in power is what is more likely to lead to short term policy change. For now getting Kamala/Walz in is the short term best thing for that situation. Hopefully Trump won’t have much say.

Getting Kamala and Tim in is the best thing for the short term, holding votes to protest policy only helps the guy who is running on a muslim ban and mass deportations, who also loves Netenyahu, its like shooting yourself in the foot by not supporting the one candidate who actually supports your cause for the guy who wants you gone

These protesters aren't helping the situation.

Trump wants Kamala to take a side before the election. If she blatantly sides with Isreal she loses minorities and the youth. If she sides with Palestinians the Zionist CPAC will go scorched Earth on her (Ask Cori Bush).

It's a lose-lose situation if she addresses Gaza right now.

Which is why she essentially told the protesters to wait until after the election or they'll be stuck with Trump (who is way worse in every sense).

He’s such a great fit. Improves the ticket in a whole bunch of areas while having almost no drawbacks (unlike the likes of Shapiro).
I agree, Walz was definently the right pick for her running mate, and a much better team than those weirdos on the other ticket, old man and couch molester.

That may be true, but people are dying now, and it's a tough sell to say hey wait a few months.

Harris and Walz need to have a pro-ceasefire speech. Tell Americans Israel can exist and it can coexist with other neighboring nations. We don't want war, but peace.

Ideally Kamala would tell the protesters they're right, convince Biden to withdraw support for Isreal and publicly condemn Netanyahu as a war criminal but that's a pipe dream.

Like I said earlier this is a wedge issue that can only help Trump and it wouldn't surprise me if the protesters were actually Trump operatives. That's how much this issue is a trap for Kamala.

Her hands are tied. It won't help the Palestinians if Biden pauses Isreali support only for Trump to win in November.

Kamala has a decent shot at winning. It's foolish to divide the party and kill her momentum. She needs every ounce of support.

It reminds me of FDR and anti-semitism in Germany. The truth is Americans in general were isolationist after WW1 and fairly racist against Jewish people so FDR did not have the political capital to stop Hitler until Pearl Harbor. That was the reality of the situation.

I just think her tone could have been better, something like I understand and I will try my best or whatever instead of hey it is either Trump or me and then stare them down.
