Ferrell and Reilly are Holmes and Watson

Yeah, this is only their third collaboration in 12 years. I'm not counting Anchorman 2 because Reilly only had a brief cameo and I don't even think him and Ferrell were on screen at the same time in that.

I’m surprised this is even coming out.

I go to the movies about two to three times a week and I have yet to see this trailer in theaters.

Unsure what happened with marketing...

Has anyone seen the trailer in theaters?

I just got it with Aquaman. It got an okay reaction.

Critics Consensus: The lowest and vilest alleys in London do not present a more dreadful record of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson than does Holmes and Watson.

According to Deadline, Sony tried selling the movie to Netflix but Netflix didn’t bite.

That says something. They’re willing to get into the Adam Sandler business but even they are shying away from a steaming turd like this.

Well, at least Reilly's got Stan and Ollie, which seems to be received better than this. Crazy that he's got two movies based on famous duos coming out around the same time during the holiday.

Netflix passing on it tells me to pass on it.

The should have tried to do the same with Grimsby. One of the worst movies I have ever seen.

I kind of want to see this just to see how it bad it can be. Generally Will and John have great chemistry that alone can give some bright spots in an otherwise dumb movie.

Even as a Sherlock Holmes “purist,” I’m open to less orthodox interpretations. :word: Holmes in the modern era (e.g., Sherlock, Elementary)? A story that upends many canonical details (e.g., The Seven Percent Solution)? As long as the interpretation is thoughtful and respectable, it’s cool by me.

But I was never, ever interested in Holmes parodies. (Methinks, most have been fairly bad. Note: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother, Without a Clue. Perhaps all SH comedies are cursed? :wow:) Likewise, with this effort. And more respectable reviews wouldn’t have tempted me.

Despite the rating I want to see this one.
I really don't read too much into critic ratings anymore, especially on comedy movies. Too many of these guys are total film snobs and their tastes don't line up with mine. Audience score will be more telling. That being said I don't expect this to be a masterpiece. :D

I’m sure that family would be heartened to know the state trooper who broke the news to them (if that story even happened) later uses it as a joke about how bad a movie is.

Pretty sure this is a fake story but it is nonetheless awful.

Lots of people walking out of the movie also, apparently.

Holmes & Watson

So is this comedic take on the legendary characters Sherlock Holmes & Dr. John Watson truly one of the worst movies of 2018...well....

PRAISE: I laughed out loud several times at the sight gags, and one liners. Will Ferrell as Sherlock Holmes and John C. Reilly as Dr. John Watson still have comedic chemistry.
It was fun to see Rebecca Hall in a light comedic role for a change.A running gag was extremely funny.

PROBLEMS:Man did this movie run out of steam fast.I was shocked that some gags went on for so long in such a short movie. This only revealed that the film really didnt have that much of a script or plot.
Im not sure why Ralph Fiennes signed up for this he was only in 3 scenes and had 2 lines !!
There was some really weird voice dubbing throughout the film.

Wait for this to hit cable,it's not horrible but not worth a 12 dollar and up ticket price

Scale of 1-10 a 4

why the heck is this so terribly reviewed? is it really that bad? It's a shame they didn't elect to drop it on Netflix or something.
