FF Memories & Memorabilia

FFMemorabiliaBanner8c-1.jpg

Consider this new banner to be the official invite for any and all to join in the fun. :yay:

This thread started out October 30th of 2006 as a "Cover Countdown" to the premiere of Fantastic Four:Rise of the Silver Surfer on June 15th, 2007.
But it gradually evolved into much more; a place for fans of all types (From fans of the earliest comics to those just discovering the FF via the films) to discuss any type of FF-related subject in a laid-back, friendly atmosphere.
Or, to paraphrase Bill O'Reilly (and I can't believe I'm doing that):
This is a non-flame zone. (Unless we're talkin' about the Human Torch's powers. ;) )

If you're new to the thread, feel free to browse back over the last 8 months of FF imagery and fan discussion. There's bound to be some images you've never seen before or discussions about the FF you'll find entertaining.

The main emphasis here is on Fantastic Four memorabilia, anything from vintage coloring books and halloween masks to candy to trading cards, anything and everything Fantastic Four-related.
So if anyone out there has anything FF-related that you think wiould be of interest, please feel free to scan it or take a digital picture and upload it to any of the popular image-hosting services. (Many of these services are free, and will provide the image URL to paste into your Hype post.)

Like I said, this is a non-flame zone, so everyone please play nice. In the 8 months this thread has existed, there hasn't been a single problem. Let's not get into any "versus" subjects, like "who is stronger, Thing or Hulk" - okay?
Everyone treat others and their opinions with the courtesy you yourself would like. If you're making a declarative statement of opinion, like "I thought Simonson's FF stunk" please take care to include those all-important words "I think." "in my opinion," "IMHO" and all those work well, too.
Potential troublemakers be aware: I may not be a Moderator, but I do cut a moderator's grass on Wednesdays. :woot:
Basically, please be nice.
After all, the Fantastic Four is all about family, and in a way we fans are also one big family.
At least, that's how the folks around here feel.

Thanks!
Malus :ff:

I like the name change.

AAAAAAAaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh and the major third sounded as the Angels sang and the clouds parted and the light shone to reveal MY FAVORITE THREAD AGAIN. YAY!

I still say this entire thread should be required reading at the academy.

"A very promising, if understated, start to arguably the second most important run in the series' history." -

This one's just surreal to me.
Coming soon from the U.S. Post Office:
FF3STAMPcopy.jpg

There's also a THING and SILVER SURFER stamp, among others.
This stamp set is the companion release to the "DC Heroes" set released last year.

Why a Spider-Woman stamp? Why not something a lot cooler like Nick Fury, or Dr. Strange or... not Spider-Woman?

Mostly because they wanted to include a couple of women. Oddly, they didn't include a black hero like Luke Cage or the Black Panther.

I wondered about the inclusion of Spider-Woman too. Her solo series certainly didn't leave that big of an impression on me anyway. She's from that era when Marvel tried to promote female versions of the characters, with She-Hulk being the more successful. I mean, at least she's been a member of both the Avengers and the FF. I have a feeling Marvel submitted her because she's one of Bendis's pet characters and as IIRC he resurrected her in his Alias series with Jessica Jones. She's also in his Avengers line-up.

I would have thought Storm would have been a natural choice. She's certainly been much more popular with fans and far more visible tio the public.
And Elektra? An assassin on a U.S. postage stamp? Well okay, I know Darth Vader and Darth Maul are already on stamps, but these sheets do say "superheroes." And that cover stamp for Elektra - yuck! I mean look what they did to poor Daredevil's logo! And where's his stamp?

I can't for the life of me fathom why they didn't use the Invisible Woman and Storm, if they wanted to include two females.
My preference, though, would have been Sue Richards and T'Challa.
Black panther - the first black superhero! It's such an obvious choice.
What's wrong with these people?

That is very cool, those stamps.

It seems the DC stamps had a more rounded representation of artists. There was a Curt Swan, Wayne Boring, Neal Adams, Ross Andru, Bob Kane, Gil Kane, Giordano, Kubert, Jack Cole. Carmine Infantino, and even a Jack Kirby on the DC side.

The Marvel side seems to be pretty heavy on Kirby. Which makes sense since he designed and drew almost all of them to begin with,.... and his representation of most of the characters is what I'd rather see anyway. It's just something that jumps out at me upon first glance.

I still have two sheets of the DC ones I couldn't bare to put on things like my light bill. Now with the postage change they're obsolete.

I gotta get those. What's the release date on those?

I count 9 Kirby's on this one...let's see...3 Buscema's, that Hulk is obviously Romita, a Gene Colan, a Frank Miller,...and I forget who did the upper left Spider-Man.

The local post office said "soon" so they have no idea.
Maybe it's on the official USPS site?
I'm making good on my "Transformers" promise right now, but I'll check when I get back...

Upper left spidey is Romita Sr I think.

Ah, the ever keen, scrutinizing eye of Highguard.

I'd have preferred Invisible Woman, The Wasp, Scarlet Witch, Jean Grey, Mary Jane (that famous "You just hit the jackpot" shot by Romita Sr.), or Storm....

Any of them strike me as more representative of the Marvel Universe than Spider-Woman (although oddly enough, she's the only one of all the female characters i mentioned to actually have had her own book....and cartoon...hmmm, maybe she DOES deserve to be there! :yay: )...
