$550 a pair!!
They're air-brushed individually, of course.
Interesting site. The Redd Foxx card-playin' shirt is cool.

Hahah, well somebody is making money off of Galactus and he is the real deal.:woot:

Hmm. Does the card set come with the Quincy Jones written theme song to accompany you during your game?

I ordered it from the Heroes World mail-order company in New Jersey when I was a kid. They used to advertise in Marvel comics. For a few years they sent out a catalogue with horribly hand-drawn product illustrations. (yet printed in full color.)
I guess that's the same Heroes World distributor that Marvel (under Ron Perelman) bought in 1995 - right before they almost destroyed the direct market.
Ah, memories.

Wow.... I've never seen that before. I wonder what that would be worth now?

Fantastic Four cloth scroll/poster 1984

Now here's something I won on eBay a while back but the seller was very vague about it's history. Its a cloth scroll or banner on a wooden dowel. It's got a "#2" on the upper left corner and the year of copyright is 1984. This has to be from the time when Kristoff was ruling Latveria and Doom had not recovered his true body yet. I have never seen this done as a poster anywhere and I wonder if anyone here is familiar with this...

I recall seeing this before and thinking, not much room for the reflection.

I have one of those, too.
I must have ordered it through the Lone Star Comics (of Taxas) mail order subscription service. I was still ordering from them at that time. It came with a plastic rod running thru the top & bottom, with a string attached to the top for hanging.

Wow.... I've never seen that before. I wonder what that would be worth now?

I remember Harlan Ellison had it listed among the hundreds (if not thousands) of collectibles he lost when his home was practically destroyed by an earthquake back in the 90's. His agent put out a list of "items Harlan would like to replace."

I thought, "Good luck with that, Harlan. Not gettin' this one." :)

Never heard of this before, I must say byrne still has the same effect on me as he always did, sometimes it grabs me and sometimes his work seems rushed. This I think was the latter.

However artwise Byrne was always in my top five as artists/storytellers.

My picks after learning to appreciate Jack as I matured are:

1: Jack "King" Kirby
2:Gentlemanly George Perez
3:Big John Buscema
4:John Byrne (what was his handle)
5:Swashbuckling Rich Buckler

Notable mentions; PAUL Ryan, Walter Simonson, Keith Pollard, Sal Buscema, Greg Land, Mike McKone, Adam Kubert, Carlos Pacheco, Pascual Ferry, Steve McNiven, Brett Boothe and of course the anatomically correct and incomparable Jim Lee.

Thanks for the background, Malus. If this one was #2, do you know what the others were?

Highguard, I would add "Gentleman" Gene Colan to my list and I like all your choices, too. Colan was not as much a superhero artist as Kirby was but I loved his first run on Daredevil with Stan.

You know, you mentioned Brett Booth. Wasn't he Jim Lee's protege for a while? I think I saw a recent news article about him where he ended up financially strapped and living in his RV or something. He was on his way cross country for another job or something.

He sort of mentions it here:

Yeah I heard about that, Brett worked on the Heroes Reborn FF arc with Jim Lee.

The guys I picked out were artists who had meaningful contributions to the FF. For instance I would have had Jim Lee as a front runner instead of an honorable mention or at least up front but he only did 6 issues of the HR arc.

Paul Ryan who is often overlooked had almost as many issues as Byrne and now that I think of it I have to go back and edit my post to include a Keith Pollard nod.

Actually Jim Lee should get some credit for the movie costume designs, they are knockoffs of what he submitted to Fox I think.

Gentlemanly Gene was a great artist but I don't or can't recall him ever drawing a regular FF comic, his Dardevil and Dracula arcs were interesting though but his style was definitely not regular super hero stuff.

I should have added John Romita Junior to this list almost just for the two parter he did of the Human Torch's guest appearance in Daredevil a while back (early 90s I think), it was a story by a lady whose name I forgot but this lady is the only one who I think could actually launch a long running Human torch series, the story was that good.

I may have seen these before but I think I should post them again.

Now THAT'S a cool find Malus, ole' buddy. Wonder if that's ever been printed in the Kirby collector. I let that subscription run out couple years ago.

I guess Jack realized that it would be silly for Reed to be wearing a mask when the commissioner knows him by his first name.

Kirby was the penciller though, not the colorer or letterer. Which means Kirby actually drew those masks on them. Someone else removed them. I wonder who.

^^ Johnny Romita probably at the instruction of Stan at the last minute while Jack was snoozing, lol.
