Comics Fill in this blank "Get (blank) back on a Spider-Man title a.s.a.p!"

I'd honestly like to see Stan Lee take over Amazing Spider-man for a little bit just to see what he could do now with the character. Perhaps not for a long run but maybe for a year for an arc or two or three.

I know someone else will be trying to get this punchline, so I might as well do it:

...quality...

Howard "The Power" Mackie.

No but seriously Jm DeMaties or Tom DeFalco for me.

JM "no one can spell my name right" Dematteis.

Why somebody BACK?

They all have their detractors. Wasn't too long ago people were worshipping JMS.

What about somebody new?

Then DeMawhatshisface I'll go for. Because that's when I bought the most Spidey comics when I was younger.

A thread that's already been made a few times before.

Dan Slott. Spider-Man/Human Torch was the best Spidey book in eons, so let's put him in a monthly.

I hate to sound ppmpous or arrogant, but my answer is me.
As of now the only person I trust to handle Spider-man right is myself.
(And I have some fantastic ideas of what to do with the character too).

Tom Defalco.

More importantly, don't let Joey Q. near the book regardless of who writes it....or have ANY say in it.

Cool! What kind of ideas?

My goal would be to bring Spidey back to his former glory.
There are some key aspect to the character that have been ignored of late, such as;
the fact that Spider-man is the flagship/premier hero of the MU. That means a lot. It is an indication of how special he is. He isn't just another superhero running around in the MU (as he's been depicted recently). he is instead the go to guy, the Michael jordan of the MU. The guy who may not be the strongest or the fastest but the guy who (almost magically)hits the shots at crunch time.

I would also emphasize his powers. namely his spider-sense, his strength and his agility/speed.
Spider-sense--This is a very special power which no one seems to have gotten right. Even the great Stan Lee himself made mistakes with respect to this ability. This powers has been very inconsistent in the past.
Spider- strength--- Though some writers have gotten this right in the past, it is also true that the depiction of SM's strength has been very inconsistent the character's history. SM lifts 10 tons (now 15 tons), that makes him pretty strong. This strength allows him to do some pretty amazing stuff. Only class 100 characters can't be hurt by SM from a strength POV. Everyone else, including the Thing, Firelord, Submariner on down can and has been hurt by him. My approach as a writer would be to establish this strength by showing that Human level characters like DD, Cap, Wolverine etc. do not and cannot pose a threat to spider-man. Think about this, Spider-man is more than 20 times stronger than Wolverine or Daredevil, whereas Hulk is only 10 times stronger than spider-man. There's nothing more annoying to me than when writers depict him as trading blows with the likes of DD as if they were on the same strength level. it is as silly as depicting SM trading blows with the Hulk.
Agility-- Again a very misunderstood , inconsistent and poorly handled power. SM is the most agile superhero in the MU, yet he gets hit by the lamest and slowest of villains. He often goes from dodging bullets to gettting punched. Anyone fast enough to dodge bullets should be almost impossble to hit with a punch.

Spider-web- writers and artist simply have not been very creative when it comes to the webs. Yes they've made him use the web as a shield, a glider, and other gadgets, but very rarely do they utilize it as the weapon it could be.

Finally it is the combination of all these powers which make SM so dangerous and so awesome in a fight. His Speed, strength, and skill, combined with his spider-sense make Spider-man one of the most dangerous fighters of the MU.
IOW, he is not only fast enough to dodge punches, bullets and other superheroic weapons, he has a spider sense which warns him of the danger even before the action is taken. ANd not only can he avoid danger but he is strong enough to hurt most anyone (especially with repeated punches). Plus his spider-webs gives him a long distance weapon.

My goal as a writer would be to explore and demonstrate just how powerfull this combination of powers makes spider-man. I've already written the plot to a storyline which would pit him against most the heroes and villains of the MU.

My apporach to story telling would be to deliver the fights that everyone wants to see, SM vs Wolverine. SM vs Juggernaut, Namor, Magneto, Hulk, Cap, and so on. I would maximize not only SM's abilities but the abilities of his opponents as well. I would make each fight push the limits and go as far as they can go.

You've got my vote! Y'know, I agree with everything you said but realize that writers sometimes "dummy down" Peter's abilities in order to not make other Marvel heroes look like chumps.

I pray that the next time the Scorpion (regular-not the Venom version) returns to a comic that he's written like I believe only Stan Lee has accurately written him like. Oddly enough, the original interpretation was basically the original Venom-Spider-Man's superior in nearly every way except for brains and a slight edge on expirience.

*edit*
What are your ideas on improving (or, at least, evolving) Spider-Man as a character, and a person, and his whole world even? I mean, fights are fun, but the best thing about the classic Spider-Man stories were more his characterization, and supporting cast, and general troubles of his life more than just whether or not he'd beat Thor this month or next.
