Final Crisis: Revelations

Actually there are several parallels with morrisons current supes and bats worked. In that doom is played at a point as an actual creation of reeds psyche created to act out his viler impulses.

OK, that's kind of interesting.

On the other hand, these days, it doesn't seem like Reed needs a construct to act out his viler impulses. He's 100% despicable collaborator.

But it's the equivalent of if Morrison took Batman and just put him up against the Joker, flashed back to his training and his parents' death, brought back a mysterious female from his past, and had Batman in conflict with an evil mirror image of himself. Morrison doesn't do the easy thing.
Didn't you just admit in another thread that Mask of the Phantasm was formulaic but awesome? I've never had a problem with formulaic writing--it's kind of a staple of the comic book medium, given that there are only so many stories to tell with the same characters over and over again.

Yes, I did admit that. But formulaic has to be executed REALLY well to be good. Otherwise you get Batman Death Mask. It sounds like Morrison executed the formula fairly well, but from the brief summary Nub gave me, it didn't sound like it.

Well, which is it?

Nice. I hope the Spectre does terrible, terrible things to Dr. Light. :D

I wonder how the Spectre will kill him. I mean, he can't just rip his pants' bottom off and stick a skyscraper in his rectum. I'm guessing it'll have something to do with light-deprivation. Though I'd totally mark out for the skyscraper.

Dr. Light is an utterly vile character. "Identity Crisis" made him into such a great villain, that he's not even a guy you love to hate, you just loathe him. So I'll be happy to see him fall before The Spectre, if that's the plan.

I really don't think it's gonna have anything to do with light-deprivation.

[blackout]rape[/blackout]

Didn't Rucka say there was going to be a big spread of the villain getting his comeuppance on page 2? It's probably not Dr. Light that early in the story, but I can't see DC [blackout]butt-raping[/blackout] him in a big glorious manner. I dunno, maybe I'm looking at it all wrong. How would it, the vengeance, go down?

Wow. Can you imagine Phil Tan's reaction?

PT: So what do you guys want me working on?
DC: Well, we want you to draw the Spectre [BLACKOUT]anal-raping[/BLACKOUT] Dr. Light with a skyscraper.
PT: :wow:

It's so deliciously appropriate that it'd totally overwhelm any sense of decency or decorum he might have. :)

Good lord. Getting [BLACKOUT]butt-raped[/BLACKOUT] by a God-like being. That must be quite something to see...

The Joker
Deathstroke
Two-Face
Lex Luthor
The Joker
Captain Cold
Mirror Master
The Joker
Scarecrow
The Riddler
Deadshot
The Joker

There's my starter list for villains I DON'T want to have been on that list Rucka got...

I so want to see the Spectre go after the Joker and Dr. Light.

The Spectre would be rendered unable to punish the Joker. I mean, this is a guy who sold his soul for a box of cigars.

Yeah, the Joker's too big a villain for the Spectre to actually touch.

Fun times for all. Slight spoilers.

I think I'm most impressed by Tan's art. We all know Rucka is like onto a god, but I could remember of Tan was him being just another guy who drew boobs too big and faces too small on X-Men books. This is a bit of a step up, to say the least.

I like the "My name is Crispus Allen. I'm a dead man. I work for God." lines. This should be good enough and I've been wanting to see more Crispus Allen as the Spectre action.

I was on the fence about this but this puts me a lot closer to the buy side. Though, I have to ask, what's up with Dr. Light melting? Is that a common Spectre power or am I misintrepreting what's going on?
