Final Crisis: Revelations

Yeah, I'm confused about Questoya's involvement with the Crime Bible gang, then. If she's their leader, why is she sneaking around on boats they've hired? Why not just show up, demand obedience, and then f*** up their plans when they least expect it? You know, use the position to her advantage.

She's...not that smart?

I think the implication was the she did that at least for a while, which is why she even knows as much as she does about the whole Crisis going on now. She probably gleaned as much info from them as she could and then ditched them. Or they found out, I dunno.

Well, the Spectre seems convinced that she's still leading them. Or else Questoya's been doing some other naughty things.

Is it possible for Spectre to be wrong? I thought he got his orders from the top

It's possible for pretty much anything to happen with the Spectre. He's one of the least consistent characters in comics. I'm curious to see where this spirit of justice thing goes, though. Hal Jordan tried to bend the Spectre to his will and make it a spirit of redemption and it created an interesting relationship between Hal and the Spectre. I hope Rucka does something similar with Cris because, to be quite honest, Cris being a sullen b**** while the Spectre essentially uses his body to mete out vengeance has become pretty stale over his mini-series.

He's very rarely ever wrong, but being as how he's supposed to represent the aspect of "the top" that is completely without mercy or compassion, sometimes his choices will be harsher than they should be and may not take mitigating circumstances into account. One of the very first people Cris had to punish was his own son. And as Cris says in the issue, it's all about vengeance, and vengeance isn't justice.

God ain't so tuff. Darksied beat him in Death of the New Gods. And Orion beat Darksied....so Orion can beat God. :)

Darkseid did not fight God in Death of the New Gods, he fought the Source. Therefore, your logic is faulty.

For years they've been politely ignoring the issue of what exactly the Source means in relation to the Presence, when basic logic says they should be the same thing. I suspect, though, that they may finally get around to addressing that during this event, especially with what's been going on in this series.

I don't believe that's ever been stated. In fact, like I said, conventional logic would seem to dictate that they are the same beings.

I was on the fence about this but this puts me a lot closer to the buy side. Though, I have to ask, what's up with Dr. Light melting? Is that a common Spectre power or am I misintrepreting what's going on?

It was an homage of sorts to the Michael Fleischer Spectre stories from the 70s, where in keeping with the 40s Spectre, he caused the wicked to die gruesomely.

The Spectre is incredibly powerful. A Superman arc proved conclusively he's less powerful than Myx (or Joker with 99% of Myx's power) but that pretty much concludes the list of characters more powerful than the Spectre.

Open to Interpretation. The Biblical God in DC is generally refered to by the Euphemism "The Presence". Except for the Peter David Supergirl run where He was this kid named Wally. (Ok, not Quite established there...)

The Source lies on the other side of the Promethean Barrier. DC is not in the business of religious recruitment. They try to sell comics to readers. So, they don't specifically answer questions like that, and I doubt they ever will. Pick the answer you prefer.

If you have two beings both saying that they are the creators of everything in the universe and there is ample evidence to suggest that both of them are telling the truth, then conventional wisdom would say that they are in fact the same being. Cut away all the dogma and the technicalities and all the superficials, and you're left with the fact that both the Presence and the Source are the origin of all things in this universe and you simply cannot have two origins of all things.

This was a really cool start I, the art had my jaw to the ground the whole time.

There's also Lucifer and, apparently, Darkseid now.

After finally reading I'm actually thinking that might have something to do with his encounter with Libra. Maybe it screwed his evil sense or Libra did something to mess them up.

Or there is more than one universe inside the main DC universe. (NOT going to say that DC won't push this line sometime...) And DC really doesn't want to establish the Source, Wally and The Presence as being one in the same (or three in one though Source = Spirit, Presence = God and Wally as Jesus could be an acceptable interpretation.

Why do you keep saying Wally? You mean Barry?

Why do you keep saying Wally? You mean Barry?

Then name 'Wally' is a sort of variant on Yaweh and a distinct character from Mr. West. He was in Peter David's Supergirl run, claimed to be God, and nothing disputed it, while little supported it beyond apparent omniscience and a baseball bat that sent any attacks at him back at the attacker.

We could use a guy like him... someone show him the stupid questions thread.

Yeah, he'd be pretty good there....but he also has to have a certain, *****e baggyness to his answer. Like it's just soooo matter of fact that you end up feeling like an idiot just for asking it in the first place. No matter how intelligent it really is.

The question doens't have to be stupid, but you feel like a dumbass once you've gotten your answer anyway.
