^Definately, I want to see were the story goes AFTER Serenity, not instead of it, a lot of threads were still left open as you pointed out, and lets face it, I'm sure there are more things The Alliance has done than just create the reavers.
Definitely. Plus there's the aftermath of Mal's broadcasting that report all over the 'Verse. How do the citizens of The Alliance react to being used as guinea pigs? How do the politicians in The Aliance react to the civilians' reaction? Do they come after the crew of
Serenity seeking retribution? As the assassin said, they are not very forgiving. What about River & Simon's parents, Mr & Mrs Tam. Will they learn what The Alliance has done to their daughter? If so, what will they do? Remain as aloof and unfealing as they seemed in the episode
Safe? Or will they be outraged at the realization that the very government that they've supported their entire lives would treat their brilliant daughter's brain like a rutting playground? And if it's the latter, what will they do about it?
So many stories to be told. And in telling those stories, they could expose threads to other stories that have yet to be told. If each character were to have an entire season devoted entirely to his or her story arc, the show could be on TV for at least seven seasons. We already have River's story arc. Wash is dead (and I don't think he had much of a backstory to begin with).
An entire season can be focused on the mysterious background of Shepherd Book (granted, he's dead, but that doesn't mean ghosts from
his past can't haunt
Serenity's crew).
Why had Inara left the Companion's Temple for life aboard
Serenity?
Jayne's colourful past could certainly make for some entertaining stand alone episodes, if not a whole season.
As mentioned before, the consequenses of Simon's rescuing River from The Academy could be the source of an entire seasonal story arc.
Perhaps, once Zoe has finished mourning Wash, she can develop a new romance. Perhaps she starts using Jayne as a physical substitute for Wash, then somewhere along the line it becomes more than just sex (as a for instance).
The more I think about it, the more I want to email a link to this thread to Joss Whedon. Anyone happen to know his email addy?
