Firefly's Fillion Moves into Castle

Yeah a proper send off for Castle is what I am hoping for.

I want as many seasons as SVU! :D But I'll settle for a definitive final season rather than the show getting canned without the writers getting the close the book the way they intended.

Yeah, Castle is like the ultimate syndication show. If there was another 10 seasons, I wouldn't complain. I just think the cast would, specifically Stana. I'd prefer a definitive final season, then one of those annoying couple episode wrap ups.

Did anyone else get the feeling that the season finale could have acted like the series finale?

Fantastic episode! It just ticked all the oldschool mystery boxes for me and added a neat little piece to Castle's backstory. I always thought Hodges from CSI had villain potential. :D

The end scene was really nicely done and actually felt like it would have made for the perfect 150th episode which it would have been in a standard 22 ep season.

It'll be interesting to see what direction they go in with Kate next season, it's hard to imagine how the political angle could last for more than a few eps, like Castle's P.I. stint, without disrupting the shows format.

I think the supporting cast bar Molly Quinn would probably be happy having a CSI length TV role in fairness. As for Stana, I'd hope she'd dig being the new Mariska Hargitay but I guess she might want to have a shot at movies.

Yes, although I think it was probably meant to be the 150th ep and the season finale as opposed to a series finale, but it certainly would have worked as one.

Yeah... That final scene would have made a Suitable ending to the show... The Reddick scene was really good and Fillion was brilliant again playing the serious side of Castle.

TBH, I can't see where the show can go for season 8 without a major shake up and the whispers that Huertas & Dever might not be coming back would indicate a big shift. The problem with such a big shift as they were hinting at is that it could alienate more of the fans, and after the wedding fiasco, the ratings aren't very good already.

Personally, I hope they get Stana back for season 8 and end it with a baby storyline. Have Kate turn her back on the senator future that time travelling Morgan came back to save and instead become a mum.

The fact that both her and Fillion have only done a single season extension does scream final season to me...

Hope it's a good one.

That did seem like it could have been the series finale with that end scene. It would've been a suitable and satisfying ending, and even the story itself would've been appropriate for the final episode. Where else can they go now, after they've solved all the major mysteries of the show. Are there any loose ends to tie up?

Senator Bracken has been brought to justice, the 3XK killer is dead and Castle's missing time has seemingly been solved. What's there left to do? Maybe the ending was made in case the show wasn't renewed, so that it would've had a suitable ending rather than finishing on a cliffhanger.

How many episodes this season have also started with a similar opening in the woods with someone being chased? It looks all very familiar.

Well, it could have been the end, but now that Stana's signed, I guess I can stop wondering whether this or Vampire Diaries will have the worst final season.

Great season finale, loved it (and agree that it definitely would've been a great series finale as well), but I was disappointed that there wasn't a cliffhanger when I was totally expecting one. I wanted a sense of anticipation for the next season!

I read that the creator of the show and the head writer (Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller) just announced on Twitter that they've left the show too, which sucks. Now I'm holding out hope that Season 8 will be able to succeed without them.

I think Andrew & Terri have stepped away to work on the Derrick Storm TV series that they're developing. Seems to be changes across the board with longtime writer & Season 7 showrunner David Amann leaving along with 1 or 2 of the other writers. Longtime Castle writer Terence Paul Winter will take over as showrunner and Castle alum Alexi Hawley will return to the series as co-showrunner. Hawley as written some of my favourite Castle episodes, Killshot, To Love and Die in LA, Fool Me Once. Winter has also written some fan favourite episodes like 'Cops and Robbers' 'The Blue Butterfly' & 'Veritas'

Is there a Derrick Storm TV series on the horizon? How will that play out? As a real show or something fictional set within the Castle universe with Castle himself as a kind of framing device telling the story?

But in order for it to truly develop, it would eventually have to become its own thing and Storm would have to become a living, breathing person with real life adventures, and not just seem like some fictional hero that people read about. But then wouldn't that make it as if he's a real person who exists alongside Castle, experiencing real life world events? I don't know how they're going to do this series.

AFAIK, the contracts that just ran out were the ones they signed at the start of the show's life.

Really? It seems unlikely to sign 7 year deals on a TV series that started as a mid-season 10 ep show.

I actually think it is pretty standard. Most shows lock up their stars for peanuts for 5-7 years from the jump, just in case they stumble into a hit.

There was one scene in this episode that was really poorly planned. They go into the victims place and all the cops have their gloves on but Castle doesn't, and he just starts picking up stuff. Seems odd that no one would have noticed that.

I'm surprised the agents allow then to get tied down to such huge contracts.

I'm really intrigued by this. It will probably be an actor from the Castle-verse playing the fictional character Derrick Storm. He's teamed-up w/ the real life inspiration that Castle based the character of. I can just imagine a Nikki Heat spin-off lol.

Looks like they wrote her character out and asked her not to come back. Why would that be? They should at least have an episode to tie things up and show her leaving properly instead of without an explanation (although they'll probably just make a passing reference like she decided to go and spend time with her family or something).

Why not just make that one computer chick at the station a full time character?
