Holy crap, that S8 Premiere was inTENSE! I was on edge nearly the whole time!

Was a bit worried about S8 with Marlowe & Miller gone but turns out I had nothing to worry about, the season premiere still felt like Castle of old. Can't wait for next week, so glad the show is back!

What a start! That was one of the darkest eps they've done, but it still had time for some great humour with Rick's banter with Alexis and his excitement over the Castlecave!

Jury's out on Hayley, can't say I liked her or that anything about her made a favourable impression on me, but we'll see

In truth if they are going to have it so Castle and Beckett aren't working cases together then I'd rather he worked with Alexis and give her the extra screen time rather than add a new character. In fact with her skills on the computer tonight it really makes me wonder why they are adding another detective and a new techspert instead of just broadening Alexis role.

I'm surprised they have dipped back into Beckett's short time in Washington but it's set up a cracking opening story for the season, Beckett looks like she might have to go all McClane in the second part!

That was a VERY unexpected start. It's kinda random to have it at the beginning of the season but I loved it. So, YEAH!!!

The premiere was intense. I do wish we saw Beckett more though. What happened to Agent 33? Does she not play anymore?

Also I'm not that fond of the new character Hayley. She reminds me of Fish Mooney and I thought we'd seen the last of her on Gotham but now we have to endure another show with a lookalike.

Glad the show is back!! Not feeling Hayley at all and as much as I dig the action this storyline makes no sense to me. Some group is trying to take out a police Captain and the full force of the NYPD isn't raining down on them? Kind of silly to me.

Mostly because no one is actually sure what is going down and Becket decided to keep the department in the dark about it. I don't really mind that. The storyline coming at the start of the season is kinda out of nowhere though.

Well... ****... IMHO, they've just killed the show. Can't see how they'll come back from this, specially with the ratings already tanked before tonight. I can understand wanting to shake things up a bit, but the way they've done this... I can't see a resolve that'll sooth the fans.

The first thing I said to my wife after that episode was over last night... "Welp, they've completely run out of ideas for this show."

It was one of the worst examples of manufacturing dramatic tension I've seen, and that's including some of the silly stuff from last season surrounding Castle's disappearance.

The episode itself was good and set up an interesting overarching story and was well structured with a classic Castle moment near the end with the gun, but the last scene was a terrible idea.

I thought it was a great episode for Beckett that showcased how smart, resourceful and resilient she is......... and then they had her make that stupid call at the end, instead of deciding that working with Castle on the mystery is what will make her different to his (out of nowhere)Step-Mom and Dad.

Also, I'm a bit confused about next week's episode. Beckett decides to leave Castle but they're still working together? And it's a more comedic episode.
