First movie you saw in the theater?

The first movie that I vividly remember going to was the original Star Wars in 1977. I was only 3 years old at he time.

I do have vague memories of being taken to he theatre to see whatever Disney film was being rereleased at the time (back then Disney rereleased one of their classic animated features once a year or so) but I haven't a clue as to which one it was. I do remember seeing Song Of The South in the theater, though whether it came out before or after Star Wars I can't recall. It must have been the last time that movie had ever been released in theaters, because since then it has been banned in North America (and unjustly too, IMHO).

Because I have no clear memories of any specific movie before Star Wars, I'm going to stick with that as my official very first movie in the theatre.

I can't remember if it was Sleeping Beauty or Pinocchio.

I'm fairly certain it was The Little Mermaid in Thanksgiving of 1989. However, I remember all of the summer movies coming out earlier that year. I just wasn't allowed to see any of them.

I believe it was either Batman & Robin or Zilla 98. Might've been the latter.

So you were 2 when you saw your first movie at the theaters?

I remember seeing commercials for Song of the South when it was re-released in theaters. It was definitely after Star Wars, maybe early 80s? I can’t remember exactly.

I didn’t see that one in the theater, but I saw a bunch of those Disney re-releases as a kid. I remember seeing Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians, Alice in Wonderland, The Rescuers, Mary Poppins, and Snow White in the theater. It was the only way you could see them back then.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace when I was five years old. Still love it to this day. Oh, and I love Jar Jar too. :wow: :woot:

The first Pokemon movie back in 1998. Good memories.

Do silent films or newsreels count? :(

Seriously though, I think it was Disney's Sleeping Beauty. And no, not the original run in 1959 (Sawyer, DS, Erz, don't you dare :argh:)! The re-release in 1979, thank you very much.

I can't remember honestly. I think it was The Lion King but I am not 100% sure.

From what I remember ethier batman returns or jurassic park, fussy memories.

Not sure but I remember my first being Batman'89

Beauty and the Beast. Middle of the week, almost empty theater, with a friend and his mom. I remember really liking it.

Batman (89) when I was 4.
