actually blue lights on stylish tech is still in vogue. red ones were the only one availiable for so long that people like the change, and green just doesn't work unless it's naturalistic. i'm expecting slighty off white lights to come along eventually. or perhaps customisable colour.

Possible, but highly doubtful. Everything about blu ray that's sony related has been shoving the fact it's blue down our throat. Blue cases, blue promotional material... hell, look at the front of the upcoming sony blu-ray player. Almost all blue (and terrible looking when picturing it among your home theater equipment, at that).

Personally, I think that looks cool...BUT...it's helped a ton by the fact that a good portion of the cover picture itself is blue. It matches.

Now get a game with a brown color scheme or something non-blue to it, and it'll look horrible.

Oooooooooookay. I'm not quite sure how that's necessarily relevant to explaining that Sony is really stressing the word "blu" in blu-ray, but alright.

By the way, only the cases are red for HD-DVD. The Toshiba players (or other players, at that) don't have a single bit of red on them.

As I guessed, although the blue blu-ray design works with a blue-heavy Sonic cover, it looks really...off...with other covers that aren't.

As I guessed, although the blue blu-ray design works with a blue-heavy Sonic cover, it looks really...off...with other covers that aren't.

I wish they could've thought up a way to mesh the "PS3 logo" and the "Blu-Ray logo"(darker color) together at the top, so it could blend in better with the side of the box.

i think it's just shorter... so it looks wider when you look at it in a picture, because you assume it's the same height as a dvd case.

Nah. I work at Circuit City where I see Blu-Ray and HD-DVD cases every day. They're shorter, a bit narrower, and about half the width of standard DVD cases.
