OPTIMUS PRIME

"Summoned by a signal from one of his gravest warriors, Optimus Prime thunders down through the space above Earth and races into battle, his protoform body tracing a fiery path across the sky. Most powerful among the Autobots, he is dedicated to the recovery of the Allspark, and the protection of both humans on Earth and his own people back on Cybertron. Scanning an Earth truck, he morphs into a form that will allow him to hide until the time comes to enter battle against Megatron!"

STARSCREAM

"One of the most dangerous creatures in the galaxy, Starscream commands the Decepticon search for the Allspark while Megatron is missing. Streaking towards Earth, he reshapes his body, morphing his metal skin into a protective shell that glows and sparks as he makes fiery descent. On Earth, he will scan a disguise and modify his protoform into an Earth fighter jet form that allow him to achieve his goal: the total destruction of the Autobots."

And even thought they have the names, I have no idea what I'm looking at.

I assume these designs represent what the Transformers look like before they choose Earth modes. However, I suspect this is more of a spin-off product than an actual movie tie-in.

I actually think these are rather good. I especially like Prime

Are those authentic?

Are they available yet? If so I'd purchase them for my nephew and niece they would go nuts over them.

still prime is all 10s cept for speed...nice to see

Theohoff where did you find these?

And do you know if they are making the other characters this way too?

Are these going to be the only protoform figures available?

Also, Starscream looks a lot less monkey-ish, which I really like.

They even shown there stats for the film too. This is interesting indeed.

Since it says movie preview on the box, I'm assuming these'll be out a month or two before the regular figures hit.

they look pretty sweet to me, more like the cartoon versions than the earth form designs. makes total sense too.

damn, if the toys look this good i can't wait for the others. i hope they make an anatomically correct mikeala banes figure as well that transforms into naked mode

They sure do look a lot different than their earth forms. Sort of generic IMO but hopefully we won't see them in this mode for the majority of the movie. Primes earth mode blows his "protoform" mode out of the water IMO. These could easily be any of the 1000s of Japanese robot toys out there...the only resemblence being Prime's chest windows. I like the Blackout prototype much better than these.

I'll say I'm undecided as of now. Starscream does look better than Gorilla/Chickenscream but the molding (as a toy) looks pretty cheapo. Maybe Takara will come out with better versions.

It's a same Starscream won't look like that in his earth form

thank god Prime doesn't look like that in his earth form

I am confused by the two versions of starscream. One looks closer to his earth mode while the other looks more like a Starscream

I'd also expect SS to have more speed.

I agree with nosebleed that it does look pretty cheap in quality. Starscream looks much better here than his earth-form prototype that we've seen before. Optimus Prime looks pretty sick here as well, but he looks nothing close to what his earth form looks like, his head looks different.

Whoa, they look pretty cool. I'll be sure to get em when they hit the shelves.

Yea. Prime's earth bot mode is awesome. But, Starscream looks way better in the protoform up there.

This is encouraging. It shows they're working... and trying to make these TF's cool.

Question: If these are their "Cybertonion" or "proto" modes... why do they look drastically different than the s*t monster that we've seen that they're calling "Megatron."

his window chest reminds me of RID optimus. The "entry mode" form looks vaguely like a truck with the wheels and front window

They both look cheap imo. SS does however look better here but they look a little power rangerish to me.

His speed is maxed out at 10...did you want him to "go to 11"?

I would have expected it to be full.

So now we know what the script meant by "orbs."

Hm... let me see, a Protoform is sort of a "not so missing link" between the normal, alien Transformers and their more reconizable Earthly counterparts?

And, by the way, those protoforms are supposed to morph into what? Crumbled pieces of paper?
