This thing has been bugging me, can you play all the oldconsoles with the Gamecube controller or do you have to buy a VC Controller to play? I know the Wii Remote can play NES games but I seem to recall that Gamecube controllers can also play SNES or N64 or Sega games but lately all I see is 'VC Controller'; is it just to get people to buy the new controller?

According to Nintendo, the GC Controller wont play the VC games.

Yup, emulators are free.

and so are Roms, but they are also illegal, and I don't support that.:o

To me it's worth paying a little bit for some retro games that I loved when I was younger. Plus I don't see how playing some of these games on a computer can be that fun.

not fun on a computer? how are they any more fun on a tv screen?

and you don't support downloading 20 year old videogames? you'd rather pay $5 a game?

you must be one of the 4 people that still but cd's at your local best buy too, right?

Actually, I do still buy cd's. That is mostly to feed my OCD to have the cds all perfectly lined up and strait.

And what I was saying was that I don't enjoy using a keyboard to play a game. Plus I don't feel like buying a controller to attach to the computer.

Go fig...:yay:

GC Controller WILL work with VC Games.

Wiimote will work with NES Games.

VC Controller wont work with CG games.

Hope that clears things up.

:woot:
Just have to use the D-Pad on the GC controller which is a bit small; can't use the joystick to replace the D-Pad on NES, SNES games.

Where did you get that pick from? The newest issue of Nintendo Power which I have says the VC controller is the only way to play retro games.

More Virtual Console Games Revealed
The ESRB lists eight more classics bound for Wii's download service.
by Matt Casamassina http://wii.ign.com/articles/744/744650p1.html

November 7, 2006 - The Entertainment Software Ratings Board's official website has approved, rated and consequently listed eight more titles that will be showing up on a Wii Virtual Console near you in the not-too-distant future. The games are naturally all classics and from very recognizable franchises. In the interest in saving you time, we've listed the titles and their ratings below:

[BLACKOUT]* Duck Hunt (E for Everyone)
* Hogan's Alley (E for Everyone)
* Kid Icarus (E for Everyone)
* Kirby's Adventure (E for Everyone)
* Pilot Wings (E for Everyone)
* Pro Wrestling (E for Everyone)
* Punch-Out (E for Everyone)
* Wild Gunman (E for Everyone) [/BLACKOUT]

Nintendo itself has not officially announced these games for the Wii's Virtual Console, but the ESRB is a reliable source because the Big N has to submit its games to the Board for approval in advance. In other words, the ESRB got this list from Nintendo of America.

NOA executives continue to state that approximately 30 Virtual Console games will be available between the Wii's launch in November and the end of December. Another 10 titles will be released every month beginning in January.

Pilot Mutha****ing Wings And Kid Mutha****ing Icarus!!!!!!

What I'd like to know is if you can buy the games on a disc...like 20 games per dvd or something...

Internet trouble? Nintendo hasn't made any mention of that and I doubt they would do it. Once you pay for the game you can erase it but you can always download it again later without paying.
