Remaking Footloose is just a plain and stupid idea, the thing with the original movie is that it was a product of it's time and accompanied by an excellent soundtrack of top recording artists.

Judging from the trailer, the new tractor race has explosions.

I don't see how the premise of Footloose is suposed to work in 2011. It barely made sense the 80's as it was.
Poking fun at conservative christians is never outdated.
Least of all in Hollywood.

It's not the listening to hip-hop that's the problem. country folks like hip-hop more than you think. it's the dancing like you're professional and like you belong in an Usher video that's the problem, as I can guarantee you most people regardless of where they live, but especially in a hick town cannot do that.
Again, that's part of where this movie will fail is because the original had more "natural" dancing of the times where it felt like you would see regular kids doing that. Nothing felt overly choregraphed. We've said it before but it bears repeating; Footloose was a product of it's time and it worked for the 80's.
Lol it's funny how things change. Hip-Hop dancing has become the norm in pop culture today. Back in the 80's and even the 90's, it was it's very own unique style, but there were several different ways kids use to dance back then.
I much rather watch this type of dancing:

I just think hardcore conservative christians would be more concerned about the internet, video games, and TV. They moved on from dancing a long time ago.
Give them time. If it's something that makes normal, sane people happy, some Tea Party whackjob will come out against it sooner or later.

That's Dirty Dancing.
