I just got out of seeing Get Smart. It's about 1230am where I'm at. When I was leaving the theater my friend and I saw what appeared to be several film canisters sitting outside a door that were either labled True Believer or The Believer from Warner Brothers Studios. I was just wondering is this the code name on the Dark Knight film reels?

We've never received a film that early, so I highly doubt it.

It may have been Journey to the Center of the Earth. I'll check tomorrow to see how that one was labeled.

Wouldn't be surprised. I worked in a movie theater for a short time as a projectionist, around the time that Ocean's Eleven came out.. the can for the Attack of the Clones TRAILER had a misleading name on it.. kinda neat. Us employees got to screen the movies two days in advance, for "quality assurance". :)
I need that job back. Like, now!

Are you sure it said Warner Brothers?

How many canisters were there? Was it more than 3?

I'm thinking that the film will come under "The Dark Knight" or "Rory's First Kiss," which was the code name while they were shooting in Chicago.

My theater is receiving TDK on Tuesday, July 15 because we have a promotional screening that night, which I will be attending :woot:

Usually Warner Bros. Pictures send there prints out the morning of, or the day before the midnight. I think general theaters will get it the morning of July 17. But I'm sure it will vary by theater, company, city, etc.

I'm thinking that TDK will either come in 2 cans, which would be approximately 6 full reels, or 3 cans with 8 or 9 reels.

And "True Believer" is the "Journey to the Center.." code name.

Yeah, the earliest I remember ever getting prints in for a Thursday night/Friday release was on a Monday.

It's possible that this particular theater is having some sort of special high-security sneak peak this Thursday or Friday and WB has sent them a print for that.

"The Dark Knight" probably wont be delievered to the theatres until Tuesday or Wednesday next week, depending if its digital or film.

Yea I worked at a theatre for 5 years, most of the film reels we got were codenamed. When I first started working there, I would look at the canisters and wonder "WTF? I never even heard of this movie." LOL.

i'd understand if it was the dark knight, what with the motif of believing..."i believe in harvey dent/ gotham city" "what do you believe in!?" "i believe whatver doesnt kill you makes you stranger"

I wish I was working at a theatre. I applied twice, no luck.

I doubt it will have come in yet, even then it wouldn't be left on the side WB are very particular about their prints.

When we showed the first Harry Potter WB delivered it a few hours before the performance, we had about 3 hours the lace up 4 prints.

I do remember some our code names when the films came in Spider-Man was 'Bug Boy', and Lord of the Rings was 'The Long Walk'.
I think Attack of the Clones was 'Black Eyes'

trust me, you start to hate it. i've worked at the busiest theatre in canada for nearly 2 years, and im glad to say friday is my last shift there.

hmm I would have thought the digital movies would be downloaded. and all the projectors networked and use the same downloaded file. wouldn't that be a cheaper distribution method? just give the theatres a secure login to download with and then issue them an encryption key the day of the premiere. I suppose they are too afraid of a net outage or being hacked and someone illegally downloading their movie.

Film wouldn't arrive that early. Maybe it is for a special advanced screening.

The movie will still leak in Cam versions, which will lack in quality and sound and ruin the experience for some people. They might as well leak it themselves so people won't ruin it for themselves. Some people are just so impatient, like me.

TDK runs for 2 1/2 hrs so there would be eight reels for this movie... seven if they are shipping the last reel out at the last minuet.

I walked out of Get Smart.

from what I could tell of those Two-face bootlegs they look like stills from a cam. so there might be one out there floating around somewhere already.
Hope not. Those kinds of things can hurt ticket sales and I want this franchise to get the attention and recognition it deserves.

Sorry, the chances that is TDK is very slim. We were notified that we will receive TDK on a Wednesday under lock. The combination will only be available Thursday at noon (by email, or phone). Such circumstances have occured before with Indy, and Transformers. If they're putting it under lock, then chances are...that canister isnt holding TDK. Movies that come out this week are, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Meet Dave, and Hellboy II. It could possibly one of those...

Sometimes cam's don't hurt ticket sales. Sometimes they can increase the sales. This has also happened to music and other media.

I envy all you theater peeps who get to watch an early screening of TDK.

The IMAX theaters would get their prints first as it takes longer to build them. Much longer. On average, it takes about 24 hours or more to build a feature length film in IMAX and they get shipped in cardboard boxes.

Boy do I feel you. This has been the summer of being broke for me.

I work at Subway, plus I get about 6K, every 6 months. So I've been good going to see movies when I want too. Let's just say come July 18th, I'm going to stay in the theatre all day and all night.
