..Tools?

Just wondering if it's some kind of man rule I'm not aware of. I've got a couple of hammers, a multi-head screwdriver, a set of Phillips' and a few basic things like that. But as for power saws and such related items..I don't see any particular need for me to have em.

That's a man rule, now? I just thought it was common sense to keep a set of screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers just in case you need to fix something or take it apart. Hell, I learned to use a screwdriver as a little kid because sometimes that was the only way to open the battery packs on my toys.

You really don't need a router very often.

As a female: I have a hammer (or 'hammah' as I like to call it); needlenose plyers; some jewelers, Phillips and Flathead screwdrivers; a Dremel (named Elle) and I'm looking into getting an oscillating tool. If I ever needed a jigsaw or circular saw I have my father for that :D Although I should get my own jigsaw, they're super handy.

I did the same thing. :wow:

I guess what I mean by man rule, is having tons of the power tools. Yeah I think everyone has the basics, hammer, screwdrivers and such. Just curious about the biggies.

kinda of, my dads a spark(electrician) and as i'm still at home we both use the same tools

Ah. Well, I still live at home and my grampa has power tools. I never use them for anything (no need), but I learned waaayyyyy back in the 90's.

My dad has a power saw, and that's about it for him. My uncle however, is the greatest Mr. Fix-it I've ever seen.

Well, my dad has various power tools that even he's never needed to use.

I do like the little hand held drill though. It's like a drill for tiny people...

Basic tools are good to have. Screwdriver to replace a tail light, I even replaced my front brakes with just basic hand tools. BUT power tools for wood work I Hate that Sh**%!! :cmad: Every freakin saturday working and building something on or around the house. Home Depot and places like that ruined my childhood.. :waa:

We have some basic tools like hammers and screwdrivers and stuff. We used t have a power drill, but that broke suddenly after my brother returned it. But that's pretty much it.

There's a toolbox in the laundry room. It's not mine, I think Dad left the box here for Mom to use or something. But I use it every now and then

No, but for the past five years I've been using them while I work for my dad during the summer.

I have tools. I really would like a reciprocating saw to do a chair rail or crown moulding.

I have a tool box under my bed that I never use. My dad has power tools in the garage that I have no interest in.

I've got my basics but they're just some of my dad's hand-me-down tools. No power tools yet, besides I'd be too busy playing with them

You know, all this talk about tools makes me want to go out and get some. The only problem is I'd have absolutely no use for this at the moment. Maybe when I'm older and have a house in the suburbs.

At first I thought it was only construction workers that had tools but I can see the fascination with having tons of power tools in your garage even if you never plan on using them.

For me I just have the typical screwdriver, hammer, x-acto blade knife, measuring tape, it just feels manly fixing stuff.

When I was a kid I'd open my VCR to see how it worked and fix my VHS tapes when the film inside would snap.

Not a single wiener joke. I am ashamed.

Yes I have tools...don't use them but I have them. A lot of them. I should probably pawn them.

My motto: Better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it. So I randomly buy tools. Nothing expensive yet though.

I've never owned a power tool in my life. I own a small set of screwdrivers, a wrench, and a hammer. I can't even express how disinterested I am in building/fixing things.

But what if something breaks?

Three options: 1) Pay someone to fix it
2) Buy a new one
3) Live without it
