Forever Evil

I'm actually not wanting to read that version of the JL because to me it kinda smells like when Osborn had his Iron Patriot suit and his Avengers. I know this will be different but I just don't care for the idea.
Personally, I would love to have a temporary Justice League roster entirely consisting of people like Lex Luthor, Sinestro, Captain Cold, Ocean Master, Deathstroke, Shadow Thief, and Black Adam. I really don't see it like Osborn's Dark Avengers.

The core difference is that with the Dark Avengers, with the exception of a few characters like Noh-Varr and Ares, the Dark Avengers were still villains. Norman Osborn, Bullseye, Moonstone, Venom, etc. had no real desire to actually help people. They just wanted to increase their own power and further their own goals. Characters like Luthor and Sinestro have noble goals, the problem lies in their tactics and results. And characters like Captain Cold and Deathstroke actually have somewhat of a good side attached to them, but are just greedy bastards. Unlike the Dark Avengers, these characters actually want to do good to help others, but various flaws just get in the way.

I was just about to say that HH, that really is the main difference. We all knew that Osborn was evil and he conned his way to power. Luthor is going to earn it, and he honestly WANTS to better the world, that's the real difference.

That's why I'm excited about this. Luthor has always been one of y favorite characters and its his depth that makes him such.

Forever Evil #6 comes out next week! Promises to reveal the fate of Nightwing and who is the "hooded man". Can't wait!

The preview for #6 says Nightwing's unharmed but is being kept somewhere inescapable.... Hm.

Very fun issue.

Spoilers ahead

They still haven't come out and said that the interdimensional monster is Darkseid, but it seems very likely at this point. Alexander Luthor was pretty much inevitable as the hooded prisoner, but it was cool how he had Shazam/Mazahs powers. He seemed to be able to steal powers as he took Johnny's while killing him. Speaking of Johnny. What a way to go. It's almost symbolic how Power Ring lost an arm in death, Johnny lost a leg. Metaphors for the Crime Syndicate losing integral members.

The moment with Luthor trying to stop Dick's heart was actually very nailbiting. Now that Dick's identity is kaput we really have no idea what the DC universe has in store for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he bites the bullet before this is over actually.

The dynamic between Luthor and Batman was very entertaining and the other members like Black Manta, Deathstroke, Captain Cold and Sinestro all had moments to shine. I loved Batman using the kryptonite ring on Bizarro, althought I think he'll regret bringing that along with ultraman in the vicinity now.

Can't wait to see how Issue 7 and the next issue of JL plays out. Vic has to come into the battle at some point. I'm guessing to free the rest of the League and take down Grid.

This has been Johns best events in a long damn while. Blackest Night was good, but it was nowhere near as tense as this.

It was nice to see Bruce's reaction to Dick being all chained up. However, Lex shouldn't have gone about killing Dick in the way he did, it just seemed too rash. He clearly thought of a way to stop his heart and restart it, so he should have said that instead of shooting Batman in the back. But it was worth it to see Bruce's reaction, I was expecting Luthor to have a far more messed up face.

The whole MAZAHS! thing was unexpected, and Alex Luthor seems a bit too- murderous. I guess Alex is someone who is fundamentally bad, but does some good things, whereas Lex is supposed to be fundamentally good, but doing bad things.

Quite a lot to be resolved in just one issue. I wonder how it pans out. Though I guess Futures End could detail what happens if the world isn't ready for what happened to Earth-3.

Quick question whn during the regular titles does this even take place. I always wonder that.

Immediately after all of the current storylines. After Forever Evil, everything syncs up again.

I gotta say Geoff Johns is very good at writing comic book events, THIS is what events should be like. Marvel needs to take note. They're supposed to be fun epic adventures and this is pure fun. I'm very very curious to see what the future hold for Mr. Grayson, I feel like there's some kind of deux ex machina around the corner though.

Ah ok that's what I figured. I miss the days of infinite crisis where at lease one of the heroes books was dedicate to main event and the others were used for telling a different story.

Marvel much like their movies only feel people care about action and deaths rather than the stories.

Awesome issue! This event has been so awesome. The Luthor/Batman dynamic was great and holy hell! Captain Cold is such a bad ass! "Think it hurts now? Wait until it thaws out" OUCH!

Alexander Luthor as the hooded guy is something I felt made sense for a while now. I did enjoy the Mazahs twist and how the costume still resembles original pre-crisis Earth 3 Alex Luthor's. It's about to go down and I can't wait to see Lex and Black Adam in particular face him.

Also makes it easy to explain Alexander Luthor Jr.'s power. Son of dark lightning and and Amazon (Earth 3 Lois Lane/Superwoman). The Grayson thing makes me wonder if it's possible for him to become a talon.

I enjoyed Captain Cold a lot and seeing The Outsider and Johnny Quick get what was coming to them was the highlight for me.

I agree. I mostly read Marvel stuff but their recent events have been all hype and very little substance.

DC has done some pretty good events as of late.

Captain Cold was badass.

Batman comes across a little bit slow in this issue :funny:

The identy of the hooded man wasn't surprising in the slightest. However, the Mazahs twist was very unexpected and I'm surprised that he is appears to be a villain rather than a hero. The fact that he is so powerful does point out the reason why they brought him along.

Very fun issue.

They still haven't come out and said that the interdimensional monster is Darkseid, but it seems very likely at this point.

Really? I doubt it now. At first it seemed to clearly be Darkseid but lately it the evidence is pointing in different directions especially in this issue. In this issue, it's said that the monster is coming through those cracks in reality. Of course, Darkseid generally doesn't do that rather he uses boomtubes.

I feel f***in stupid. Totally just now realized Mazahs is Shazam backwards haha

it was an amazing issue in an amazing event. If I remember correctly, issue 7 is extra sized, and it's a relief considering all they have to tell us. Batman's reaction, Lex not really wanting to do that, and Catwoman standing for Batman were awesome moments. As was Catpain Cold fight against Johnny. Everything went really quick, but it was really intense, and the characterization was, once more, incredible.

I tell you one thing, the way Batman was acting around Grayson-- if its not painfully obvious that he's Bruce Wayne at that point then Lex is not nearly as smart as he thinks lol.

in the new 52 Bruce never adopted Dick, so to most people, there is no connection between the two of them.

Well they seem weird about Bruce's relationship to the Robins now. Because Dick definitely lived in Wayne Manor, as per the annual that came out recently.

True, I forgot about that. I guess Dick did live at Wayne manor for a while, but it's not as public as it used to be.

I remember the implication in the annual being that Grayson worked at the manor but still lived outside of it or something.

This issue was amazing and honestly next issue is gonna be ****ing awesome. Captain Cold is the best rogue, hands down. This is a great event that is gonna make a great trade.

Loved the issue. Captain Cold is badass. Excited for next issue.
