Like Ragnarok it seems to be 2 versions of the same suit. There is the black sleeveless and capeless one which should be used in the beginning and on Thor's quest and then later on, that same suit will get some new touches like the sleeves, the red cape... coupled with the new weapon will make him look more like the traditional version.I still think the missing eye patch thing is them trying to avoid toy spoilers as well, but is Thor really going to be wearing like 2 different costumes in this? I wasn't sure before, but it does seem that way.
As i said before this new look for Thor looks really badass.

So maybe Thor get's 2 very important things from his new friends in his IW side quest.
A wodden handle from Groot and a eye from Rocket. Thor eyes are blue so...t:
I think having the long hair would make it even better.
It was a major distinction for him physically (along with the cape and beard).

Yup, cause Hemsworth didnt like it.
As much as I enjoy this, I still feel Thor with short hair is stupid, and I have to really convince myself it's Thor I'm looking at.
No mjolnir, no long hair. It's just Chris Hemsworth in armor and tbh I think his current look is god aweful.

Another interesting thing from Ragnarok that may very well have a big impact in IW is that while escaping the destruction of Asgard, everyone was aboard the "Statesman" (that big blue spaceship) and on top of it there was the "Commodore" (the Grandmaster's spaceship used for escaping Sakaar).
So my theory and by the looks of the trailer is that most asgardians die in their encounter with Thanos crew but a chosen few survive the ordeal and escape on the Commodore while the Statesman gets destroyed.

I wonder how many times he's going to go "Super Saiyan Thor" in Infinity War.
