It could be the end for Heimdall and Loki in this film or Avengers 4. Some characters are going to die and they both seem like ones that could go having been around a long time and had a fair shot, but still as supporting characters. We know that Thor ends up with the Guardians and Hulk ends up on Earth. I think we also heard that Loki becomes some kind of advisor to Thanos...
So we still have to wonder what happens to Valkyrie, Heimdall, Korg, Miek... Hopefully they get on the Commodore and get the hell out of there. We also know that Valkyrie was filming in Edinburgh so maybe she and the others also come to Earth at some point. I also think that Heimdall may very well bite the dust and Loki too, the others i think are too new and popular do discard them now... at least i hope they won't be taken out.
I honestly thought Heimdall was a goner in Ragnarok due to Idris Elba complaining about the role in recent years. But apparently working with Taika Waititi changed his mind, and Anthony Hopkins wasn't going to come back as Odin until he found out Taika was directing. Thor: The Dark World really soured a lot of people behind the scenes.
I don't think Elba is in a bad mood anymore since he's now gone on record saying he wants a bigger role in the MCU. Since he is a bigger star than the role he plays, Marvel may want to hold on to him but considering there isn't really anywhere else for Heimdall to go, it makes more sense to kill him off in this.
Anthony Russo: We have a lot of conversations with people constantly, we have a lot of talks with Taika because that movie isnt finished and he had executed things on set that we needed real information about, tonally, about the direction it was going in.
Anthony Russo: Thor brings his. (Talking about characters/movies bringing their own music/energy to IW)
Joe Russo: Thor has a whole different Taika [Waititi] has a new approach to Thor, as youve seen in the trailer. So all that energy is combined.
You were saying earlier that every character is someones favorite character. Is there anyone in particular that you guys are excited for the audience to react to?
Is there a specific arc, a specific character, or even a pairing
Joe Russo: I think between Ragnarok and this film, I think Thor has a really compelling arc. I think hes a pretty fascinating character and I think hes going to jump to the forefront of peoples minds as a pivotal marvel character after Ragnarok.

Us Thor fans are getting spoiled having first gotten Ragnarok and now this in such short time.
He always seemed to treat Thor as the butt of every joke. I'm glad that the Russo Bros are excited about Thor's arc in the next couple of films.I'm so excited I can scream, see you later Joss Whedon you won't be missed.

"We grew up executing projects that were in a similar vein as Taika's sensibility. Arrested Development, Community," said Russo. "We jive very well with Taika, and with the direction he's taking that character in. I think that we always want and desire, as filmmakers, pathos as well, out of our characters. We find that humor and pathos in combination create a more profound experience for you. I think that Taika has done that very well in Ragnarok. We now get to take Thor on a really compelling journey."
They are keeping Thor and Stormbreaker very tight to the vest. Still... he barely shows up and early classes up the place. Visually stunning stuff.

Do you think Thor is on Nidavellir in the trailer when he summons the lightning?
