If You See a Beggar, Do You Give Them Money?

I used to. When I was young, and naive.

The only time I gave someone cash was in downtown Houston. He had a sign the read "Why lie, I just want some beer." Gave him a few bucks because he was being honest.

Yeah but that's a trend now.
Here are two that I liked, and still didn't give a dime for.

"Too ugly for prostitution" (a guy)

I used to but now, living in a city centre, I would never get down the street if I gave money to every beggar. So I give to none.

I have noticed, also, that a lot of requests for money are clearly not from the destitute. Some of it could be described as attempted non-contact mugging from the opportunistic and shameless.

It depends....I'm a sucker for families with children, or those that are disabled.
