You know the deal.
X-Men, F4, Deadpool, Millarworld under the Marvel Imprint

Keep it civil.

Frustrating would be the word I can best use to describe Fox. They are maddeningly inconsistent. They will make a great film and then immediately piss away all that good will by making a stinker with the next.

The first thing I think they need to do is bring in some new writers. Kinberg routinely turns out terrible scripts. They need fresh blood in the worst way.

They should also put a muzzle on him. He says the dumbest things all the time and only ends up embarrassing the studio.

I definitely agree on Kinberg.
All the in-development stuff is done by fresh blood as the "oldest" filmmaker is likely bowing out alongside Hugh Jackman with Wolverine III.

I like their Fantastic Four movies.
The ones with Captain America, not the new one with Creed.
I will give the new one credit for having a better grasp on Doctor Doom's story, it might be mild, but notable.

they frustrate and annoy me. they made two good x-men movies, but then they followed it with daredevil, elektra, the two tim story ff films, x3 and xo:w, gettin worse with every single one of them. and just when you've given up on them, they put out x-m:fc, a good but troubled movie that at least had potential. so you hope again, but then, they produce mess like wolverine 2, dofp and last years fant4stic, whatever that was. so, you just give up all hope. until they produce deadpool, their best one yet. but when you think, this time they got it right, maybe that wasn't luck, maybe they finally know what they do, garage like apocalypse opens in theatres.

There's really no need to even talk about anything they have done outside the Xmen franchise. I mean......seriously.

So lets start with the state of the Xmen. Great start to the series with X1 and X2. Then it all fell off the rails with X3 and Origins. Got back on track with FC and DOFP and now they are just kind of spinning the tires with Apocalypse.

Deadpool was brilliant and Wolverine was ok I guess. It wasn't bad at all. Im not even getting into the other crap they put on the big screen.

I thought Apocalypse was alright. It wasn't great, but certainly nowhere near bad enough that I'd personally write off the franchise, no matter how much the complete lack of attention to any sort of continuity annoys me. The lack of box office growth (or even stability) is a bigger concern.

It's a mixed bag really. I think the core X-Men franchise is very strong, even if Apocalypse was a massive disappointment to me and I don't think X3 is as bad as anyone make it out to be. X3 and Apoc are actually comparable especially when it comes to writing. The Wolverine was fine but I find it a little boring. The rest of their marvel movies though is abysmal.

Fantastic Four I hope can be viewed as a fun family-esque adventure, a small handful of modern super hero CBMs are suitable for all ages so for that factor maybe this has some value. I thought Silver Surfer was a little better than the first movie when it was released, but I haven't seen either of these in a very long time. It'd be interesting to watch the original and '15 movie and compare them, it seems the Tim Story film would be more plain ol' watchable.

Daredevil I thought had a bad rap for a while, til I watched the director's cut which proved it deserves all of it. Some extra scenes that do flesh out the movie but the bad is still there and it is bad. The fight with Kingpin at the end is still ok but not worth the price of admission.

Elektra put me to sleep.

That says about all that needs to be said for the films outside of the X-Men corner.

Surprised how well this thread worked out given conversations elsewhere.

Don't forget "Millarworld under the Marvel Imprint" - which is just Kingsman so far.

I've said what I wanted to say about the worst superhero flicks in that thread.

I don't care for Millar's work, so eh on that end.

ah, no biggie.
I knew a guy who was unwilling to watch the movie because the movie offended Christianity.

After finally watching the first episode of Norigami, damn, that moment in your avatar is creepy.
I can't think of it differently.

I'm one of those who like Wolverine Origins and X-Men 3, the stupid in the 2009 movie is hard to miss, so I guess I will give that one the title of a bad movie I like.
X-Men 3 is somewhat underrated, I know Warren is a wasted character, and deaths of Cyclops and Charles feel tacked on more than natural progression, I don't know when Magneto thought it was ok for Phoenix to kill him and when it was not, but I find the good in it is bigger than its reputed to be.

Fox is incredibly uneven with their movies. Despite failures like X3, Apocalypse and the first Wolverine I'm still fine with them having the X-franchise. Not that I think they do it better than Marvel would, but the X-Men work better on their own.

The Fantastic Four rights really needs to be free off their hands though. Not that I'm nearly as excited about the heroes of that franchise as I am about the villains.

I dislike X-Men: Apocalypse a lot!

But I love X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. I also liked The Wolverine and Deadpool!

Problem with going smaller is that these movies cant be treated like a tv show where you have a small filler episode here and there so every movie is gonna have to fee big either in concept or visual.

^ Seriously.
These are event experiences. Not programming you look forward to once every week or flip on the screen daily despite being a rerun.
That said the spinoffs have done a well enough job presenting smaller threats.

I'd rather have a a grand universe than a disjointed continuity.

While the villains are insanely important to add to the universe, there is so much to be done with the F4 themselves...you gotta trump Xavier and magneto or thor/loki in terms of rivalries and none are better than Richards and Doom...so Mr. Fantastic is a must for that reason alone....Torch and Peter are a must for friends and great comedic/relationship building...the thing and hulk...that one is a duh!. Susan gives us Franklin and Valeria so yes...the 4 are needed...so that we are also not just repeating the same MCU heroes over and over....

6/14 by my count.

X-men
X-men II

X-3
X-men Origins Wolverine

X-men First Class
The Wolverine
X-men Days of Future Past

X-men Apocalypse
Deadpool
Daredevil
Elektra
Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer
FFINO

I personally didn't care for The Wolverine, but it was fairly successful so it certainly won't count against them.

Am I missing any?

I liked Deadpool but I wouldn't be too upset if the whole Fox/Marvel thing was disbanded based on everthing else there.

If we had to give them scores:

X1 8
X2 9
X3 5.5
FC 8.5
DoFP 9
XA 5.5
XMO 4
TW 6.5
DP 8
DD 5
Elektra 3
F4 5
RoTSS 5
F4 2015 3

So it really is a mixed bag.

GOTG isn't shoehorned into Avengers or any other MCU franchise. The group remains in the cosmic Marvel universe for another 2 or 3 years, so why do people assume if Marvel gets X-men back that shoe horning will occur? Outside of a few deserving cameos I don't see the downside.

who are you even responding to?

Oops! I think I could've worded that better. My apologies. It's a general question for an ongoing excuse that some people like to rely on.
