Both were very good but Gorshin was better and I hope Nolan does serious Riddler if he shows up in TDK or Batman 3.

Gorshin, easily. He was slightly over the top, but he was the only villain on the 60's show to come off as sinister at all. It seemed he could just totally snap and kill everyone there at any moment.

Gorshin's Riddler, for me, embodies everything The Riddler should be... the laugh, the exaggerated movements, the straddling of the line between silly and sinister... i don't think i would ever have liked The Riddler at all if Gorshin hadn't played the role... i certainly didn't care for Carrey's interpretation... while Carrey had his few brief good moments, i'd be hard-pressed to find anything about Gorshin's character that i disliked at all...

then again, i do, so often, seem to be stuck in the '60s...

Gorshin played the role with a reasonable amount of finesse. Carey simply jokerfied it and played a loon.

They both did great, I think. Jim Carrey did have some great lines.

I agree TAS was the best representation, but I'd love to see Robin Williams have a go as the Riddler.

But if wasn't for Gorshin, the Riddler probably would still be a very minor Batman vilain.
