Can't forget that Bane of the Demon and parts of Legacy were also heavily present in the movie too.

Almost forgot about that, I haven't read it yet.

Special features wise...

The parts in bold is all your getting folks.

Was the “Batman and Me: The Bob Kane Story” documentary on another DC animated movie? I remember watching it.

When did Ron Pearlman voice Batman? I know he's played roles in all the modern Batman animated shows but I had no idea that he actually voiced the caped crusader himself at some point. I'd like to see clips because I'm curious as to how that turned out.

The 2006 videogame Justice League Heroes:

Batman starts around 1:25...

Didn't at all like Batmans voice in Year One. solid movie overall though. Bryan Cranston NEEDS to be a live action Gordon.

Blergh, the special features are irrelevant.

Waiting on Double-pack Blu-ray. =p

I must be the only one who really liked Ben McKenzie then.

Give me more Jeremy Sisto please!

Yeah, he's another one of the best in my opinion as well, and one of the reasons I was considering extending my best list beyond three, although I wanted to even it out with three best and three worst.

Peter Weller sounds like a robot. No, Peter Weller is a robot.

Peter Weller is obviously still typecasted as RoboCop in the minds of some people. I recommend watching, if you are an adult, Peter Weller as Stan Liddy on Dexter to dispel that robot perception of him.

The Official Press Release for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 1:

FRANK MILLER’S COMIC MASTERPIECE IS NOW AN ALL-NEW ANIMATED ORIGINAL MOVIE.

BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS - PART 1 COMING SEPTEMBER 25, 2012 FROM WARNER HOME VIDEO.

Legendary RoboCop star Peter Weller and Modern Family star Ariel Winter are joined by David Selby, Michael McKean, Wade Williams, Gary Anthony Williams among the stellar voice cast.

Frank Miller’s landmark graphic novel about fear, hope and redemption is celebrated with proper measures of haunting visuals and intense action in Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 1. Produced by Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, the all-new, PG-13 rated film arrives September 25, 2012 from Warner Home Video with a Two-Disc Special Edition DVD ($24.98), Single-Disc DVD ($19.98) and Blu-ray™ Combo Pack ($24.98), also available On Demand and for Download.

Fan favorite demi-god Peter Weller (Dexter, Naked Lunch, RoboCop) is the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman, while Ariel Winter (Modern Family) is the voice of Carrie Kelley/Robin, David Selby (Rich and Famous, Falcon Crest) is the voice of Commissioner Gordon, Michael McKean (Auto Focus, X-Files) is the voice of Dr. Bartholomew Wolper, Wade Williams (Burn Notice) is the voice of Harvey Dent/Two-Face, and Gary Anthony Williams (Dystopia) is the voice of the Mutant leader.

In the bleak and ominous future of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 1, it’s been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape and cowl, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with racecars and liquor – but he still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants. Bruce Wayne is finally prompted to once again don the cape and cowl, and dramatically returns to crime-fighting – battling Two-Face, and simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie Kelley, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with his new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new … and old.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part One is directed by Jay Oliva (storyboard artist for Batman: Year One) from a screenplay by Bob Goodman (Batman: The Animated Series). Sam Register (Batman: Year One) and Bruce Timm (Batman: Year One, Batman: The Animated Series) are the executive producers. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 2 will provide the epic story’s thrilling conclusion with its release in early 2013.

"Frank Miller’s classic re-imagining of Batman has been faithfully recreated under Bruce Timm’s skilled guidance as a masterpiece of storytelling,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Home Video Vice President. “This story has been treated with great reverence, including a tour-de-force performance by science fiction legend Peter Weller as the voice of Batman. We know our fans will not only love this film as a stand-alone, but will clamor for the release of the second half next year."

Dammit, not even a good making of doc? Why do they never give us making of docs for these things?

Splitting this into two(likely one hour each) movies is clearly a cash grab, but one that I respect.

Terrific cover. Reminds me of TDK.

Nolan and co. used several Batman graphic novels for their trilogy like Batman Begins was Batman Year One, The Man Who Falls, and The Long Halloween.

The Dark Knight used The Killing Joke, The Long Halloween, and a few smaller stories.

The Dark Knight Rises used Knightfall, The Dark Knight Returns, and No Man's Land.

Also I dig Weller as old Bruce Wayne/Batman, It's does kinda sound like a dark Adam West with a little Robocop.

There's quite a bit of The Cult in TDKR, too

Interesting. He was actually alright during the beginning but then as it went on it was way too inconsistent (sometimes he's yelling, sometimes he sounds like he's half asleep) to even be effective.

Yeah, me too. I'm not really fond of the cover we're getting. It's not bad art or anything, it just doesn't resemble the book.
