"Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson: A former high school athlete whose pro career was derailed by an injury who now works as an auto mechanic."

He's the biggest enigma of the show so far, not appearing in any of the promos so far in any shape in spite of his role as a lead.

So who is he?

Is he Black Lightning/Static Shock? Mr. Terrific? Some other, more popular hero who will experience some change in translation for this show?

Could it be an alliterative alias for a character with and alliterative name, who also has a past as a mechanic in the comics, and a connection to STAR LABS as they've mentioned?

Could he be Wally West?

I heard the big rumor was that he'll be playing Cyborg.

Jay... as in Jay Garrick?
Jay Jackson... Same letter initials (JJ) like Wally West (WW)?

He's a Jay/Wally hybrid! :o

I was going to go with Wally West. But it just occurred me - if its not Wally...it's Jason Rusch.

What if.... Ronnie dies in the season one finale of the Flash? Then Jason would be the other half of Firestorm.... Outside of the footage from the Flash of Firestorm upclose - the only new footage of Firestorm in the Legends trailer - was shown from afar.... what if that was done intentionally to hide his new identity?

Jason Rusch was already on the Flash though, as Jason Rusch.

That's what I was thinking. I seem to remember in one of the DCAU shows that the one half of Firestorm was an ex football player. The professor was always getting annoyed at his other half because he acted like an immature frat boy who wasn't the brightest coin in the purse.
Don't remember his name though.

Yes - he was. All the more reason why I think it's possible it's Jason Rusch. His research was taken from him. He longer is working with Stein, and it would make sense he was now a mechanic as they said - with ties to Star Labs. If they were trying to HIDE the idea that Ronnie might DIE tonight - they would want to withhold the reveal of who the other half of Firestorm is - so thus - why they might change the names to hide a plot twist.

And if they aren't hiding the actor's real name - but are instead recasting Jason with a new actor - that's hardly unheard of either....

I'm still inclined to think Jay Jackson, the mechanic with ties to Star Labs is infact Wally West. Rusch is my next guess.

Concept art looks better on the page to me

I'm kind of wondering why the show's producers decided to forgo the two having to use the chest reactor in order to fuse. It seems like they can fuse without it, let alone on how they can sudden sport their uniform right away without Jay needing to wear the costume first.

I'd just put it down to narrative convenience/benefit of weeks or months of training.

HUGE IMPROVEMENT on the first costume! I mean the transition is really spectacular!
