Free Guy | Disney

I think without a doubt Shawn Levy and Reynolds have played video games post 2005 and have through BTS connections due to being Hollywood insiders, probably also have a better understanding of the business of video games than the average movie goer or gamer for that matter.

Also for a movie that had Ryan Reynolds, it took absolutely no advantage of that fact at all (no meta references to Deadpool, and the PG-13 rating limiting his signature humor). His part could've easily been played by someone else. And Taika Waititi might be a talented director, but I don't think he should ever be allowed in front of a camera again.

Seeing this with a co-worker who is going in a Deadpool costume lol

Makes sense

All indications is that people liked it and there's a solid chance if breaks even too. Not bad for something they were thought about dumping on streaming

It wasn't dumped on streaming because the old foX had a deal with HBO. And this film is included in that deal. Which is why after 45 days, it will be available in Hbo MaX instead of Hulu/D+.

After such a long period of people hating on this, it feels good to see that it's actually shaping up to be pretty great and successful.

Color me surprised. I thought it would be another RIPD

So 26 mil is new benchmark in this delta stage of pandemic so TSS was a success? Lol. I'm taking it that way
