hearing his latest quote, leads me to believe that its just a high paying gig to him. I seem to recall him grumbling about the extent of his role in begins aswell. Surely he read the script and knew what his character amounted to?!

Well, if his performance as Lucius in Begins is what he does when he´s not enthused, God help all actors when he is...

What were your experiences like working on the Batman sequel?
Freeman: The sequel. Alec Guinness remarked one time that he made more money on those two [Star Wars] movies that he was just featured in than he'd made in his whole career and had little or nothing to do. That's what it's like.

Weird. He had a very significant role in BB, with quite a lot to do..... so I don't see how he could be referring to anything but TDK. Hah. I never expected Morgan to have more than a bit role in the sequel.

He's still a great actor.

Yeah, I remember him talking after BB came out about how sometimes he needs to take a high paying role like Fox so that he can also do smaller films as well if he wants to. He also talked about how he wasn't sure he was going to return for hte sequel because he didn't think Fox was critical to the story.

That's enthusiasm for you.

Doesn't really matter, im sure he couldn't give a toss about the character, but im also sure he will put in a good performance all the same.

True, but for such a promising film with a top notch cast & crew, it's kind of a letdown to hear one of the actors essentially say "I'm just in it for the money". Especially when it's Morgan Freeman, who always struck me as a pretty cool cat.

Im sure he is, its just not a role that really appeals to him in a big way i guess

Perhaps he would've been happier playing Batman.

I believe this is one of those interviews that could be taken out of context quite easily. If we knew his tone of voice or body language, we could be singing different tunes.

The man doesn´t need to sound enthusiastic to deliver a good performance, he´s been around long enough to know what he´s doing :word:

sounds like this role isnt as challeging as say ''shawshank redemption''.but he is still one of the greatest of all time.it must be nice to make enough money on one picture,so you can pick and choose your next project.

I got the vibe that he wants to do more but there really isn't much for him to do.

Well he did bring up Alec Guiness who hated doing star wars but loved his bank balance after it, that suggests a lot.
What scene is he doing in Hong Kong?

I thought it was like he was apart of a big program but had a small part and got lots of money... oh well

I've also read that Alec Guiness was the only cast member who understood what Lucas was doing on the first movie. He still hated Lucas' directing method, but he understood what the story was trying to do.

Freeman is a smart guy. I'm sure he feels the same way (although I'm sure he respoects Nolan's directing).

ya Lucas is not that great of director but I think he didn't mean it that deeply as a comparison to Alec Guiness. At least I hope not

But...he was in shawshank...

...Shawshank.

Sounds to me like he's enjoying the perks of the job. doesn't seem to angry at all in fact, but rather appreciative.

I don t agree with freeman, I understand that he can do more than that but he s really lucky to be in Batman. It could have been worse, for example been cast in FF4 or ghostrider! I mean Nolan's Batman is the most sophisticated comics book movie I saw. In terms of acting and storyline he is the closest to earn an Oscar. The rest are far behind.
