The Dark Knight from Better Than Fudge.com

This is without a shadow of a doubt the way Joker should be used in these films. The original Joker was a stone cold killer. No big jokes, no silliness, no humorous laughing. He dared the police to stop him, outthinking them on every level and pulling off his crimes right under their noses. He was deadly, dangerous and frightful. Nolan, for going this direction with the character, really is the best decision.

I agree 100% Those first two Joker stories were really a testimate to the quality of writer Bill Finger was and just how intresting a Batman comic could be. There was really very little action - few POWS! BIFFS! WOMP!'s but some great chess play by both The Joker and The Batman. Those two stories make the Batman Choronicals alone worth buying.

What else is in said Batman Chronicals? I may have to purchase as copy.

It contains the first 16 Bat stories. The highlights are the introduction of Batman (Det. 27), his backstory. Hugo Strange (who has a very good story) (Det. 36). And then the jewels (IMO) Batman Number 1 which includes the first two Joker stories and introduces Catwoman (sans costume and going only by the name "The Cat").

It was the first Batman comic/GN/TPB I had every bought and it was a very good starting place. For 14.99 you could do much worse.

Yes, Joker should be a stone cold killer. And we should see how ruthless he can be as an individual with no holds barred.

But. A Joker...with no jokes....or laughing....am I missing something here? Since when is that a good thing?

Nice. I've seen it about in the shops, but now I might give it a look-see. I need to brush up on my old school Joker in light of this new news.

The Joker in the original comic does tell Joker (not always greatly written jokes) but jokes none the less.

For example, after a political heavy weight by the name of Edgar Martin starts pushing for more police action against the Joker - the Joker says to himself

"Edgar Martin talks to much...He Might Get A Sore Throat From Talking So Much! I have a medicine for him in this test tube"

Edgar Martin dies from poisoning :(

Yeah, I've read the issues. I was just wondering what 'Batman' meant by those words.

Joker has to tell some jokes though, funny or not. And the manical laugh, gota have that.

Bats, what can I say? I can't agree more. :D

This is gonna be so awesome!! I like the fact that Nolan is using the "darker" Joker, the killer Joker. Cause I mean, back in the day in the old comics, Joker wasn't like the Joker we all know today. I can really, really, REALLY, can't wait for this.

TDK sounds better with each little piece of info... I can't wait.

Now that Nolan mentioned the theme of the movie being things getting worse before they get better, and having multiple villains in the movie, I´m thinking about the title, as you know "dark knight" is also a pun with "dark night", which, in this case, could mean dark times coming for Gotham...

Or if you want to get literal- it means we're gonna see the horse sequence from DKR. or something. :o

But seeing that knife fight thing here makes the Joker-Batman fight from DKR 10x better.

I am glad to see Nolan is going back to Bats' roots when it comes to the Joker... a Finger and Kane version is the way to go, old school. Glad to hear!

Nolan justs gets Batman. Period.

Indeed, Nolan & Goyer understand The Legacy of BATMAN . And how important it is to have BATMAN's character portrayed the right way . As well as creating a very good realistic story .

Also, if you remember in BATMAN #1 (Joker's first appearance), The Joker was a fighter that was equal to the Batman. He even defeated him in hand to hand combat- knocking him off of a bridge, with a punch and headbutt.

Also- Just a hope, Robin was pretty intregal, and good in the first story of the Joker- Maybe Nolan will see the potential for a later movie.

Something along these lines is almost a certainty.

I would think of it as a cross between the stone cold killer..and the animated series Batman with mark hamil...

thats how the joker will be.

Sounds great to me. I second that bingo

yeah, but you need the laughs and some of that silliness. Key word: SOME. The Joker evolved since the 40s, along with Batman. I'm saying that there should be a merging of what made the Joker special throughout the years, and personaify that in Dark Knight.

I am sure there will be enough scenes with Joker's jokes and madness.

But as Nolan said, he is going to use much darker and mysterious Joker, what also sounds good.
