The Dark Knight from Better Than Fudge.com

Less skinny, more medium weight. We don't want an anorexic fighting Batman.

Well, actually less skinny sounds like B89 version of Joker.

Weight doesn't matter. Joker is unpredictable in the fighting and thats enough.

So I don't think Joker should have normal weight.

Hmmm, the first few Joker stories... Definitely sounds like the unstoppable serial killer Joker, the one who tells he´s gonna kill someone, than the police does a whole barricade around the person, and Joker gets past them anyway... Nolan reads my mind.

Looks like Killing Joke will be an inspiration too... I´m hoping the character shows a bit more of a dark side prior to his transformation, that he´s not overly sympathetic.

Agreed.

But I want this time much darker Joker, not zany clown, but mad serial killer, who doesn't know where limits can be.

I'm guessing James Bond. I remember hearing that Nolan said he would love to direct a bond film in the future.

Doubtful, but Nolan would make one of the best JB movies

Over the past year here are some of the descriptions of the Joker all from Batman-On-Film:
---------

"[The] Joker will be in this film, although he will be just one of several major villains." "The Joker. I won't spoil things for you but those expecting an exact translation of [the Character] from the comics, in terms of costume, you will be disappointed. However, let may say that this Joker will be the 'The Joker;' the way character is written is very faithful to [how] he is in the comics and I can see why WB is not interested in actors like Crispin Glover or Johnny Depp."

"Let me clarify what I said about The Joker's apperence. As far as his physical apperence goes, it seems pretty faitful to the comics - although its' never really explained why he will look the way he does. So no make up or permanent smiles on his face. As far as his costume, by 'exact translation' I mean the kind of translation that has been seen in 'The Animated Series or Burton's 'Batman.' I never said anything saying that we might not see the Joker in purple at some point."

According to the report, The Joker "...won't be zany and clowny but rather, in keeping with the tone of director Chris Nolan's films, will be dark and frightening with a broad smile under his wide-brimmed hat."

This is awesome news. I'm with you Rynan, we've had enough with the sympathetic villians. Let's hate the joker from the beginning, with a passion even.

Can anyone post some of the pictures of Joker from the comics Nolan may be using for inspiration?

Thats exactly what I mean

Nolan knows what he is doing.

I think I'm going to really like Nolan's Joker.

Wow, I've never seen the old stuff, but I like. Nolan knows what he's doing. :)

Now, all we need is some news about Penguin, Boss Maroni, and, last but not least, Harvey Dent.

This news sounds great! Nolan & Co. really know what they're doing!

Great to hear something from Nolan. I think this is the first time he's confirmed which comics he's drawing inspiration from.

Sounds GREAT, but I have full faith in Nolan vision of this series of Batman films and the Joker even if I don't fully understand where he is going sometimes.

And I don't mind some sympathy for the devil (Joker) via using some of the tragedy of the origin in 'the Killing Joke' because it will give him some dimension as a character like the graphic novel did, However it must be counterbalance with a extreme loathing and distaste for him with whatever atrocities he commit as the Joker.

Sympathy for the Joker.

Loathing and Distaste for the Joker.
