Frozen 2

Interesting. Apparently they will appear in a flashback... why aren't they just bringing back the original voice actors?

I hope Elsa and anna’s Mum didn’t hook up with the guard. Not ready for that.

I wonder who the villain will be?

I don't think the mother had a voice actor since she didn't have any lines.

She had one line in the first movie, apparently voiced by Jennifer Lee herself. "She's ice cold."

So they have confirmed no romance for Elsa in this movie. Just as well, avoid one major source of conflict.

I'll take that... for now. Though I wasn't a big fan of the explanation on the red carpet. A character need not be defined by their romance to have one. That didn't happen to Anna in the first.

They knew they had to up their game from the last one. Most of their animated flick sequels were direct to video, this one is a big deal.

Yeah, they are not skimping on this movie. I am quite impressed.

Looks really good. I'm looking forward to it. Also enjoyed what I got to see at D23.

That said, I think they should've kept Maurice LaMarche as the king. I love Alfred Molina and everything, but it's a supporting role. I don't think it's important to have a big name voicing the king.

The mood of this film feels like night and day compared to the first.

It might be premature to even consider this...but this feels like an Alien to Aliens and T1 to T2 genre flip.

It doesn't feel that different it feels more like they are unfolding and exploring more of what was hinted at in the first film. Magic beings, magic powers, and such. Why does Elsa have her powers? Where were her parents going? Etc.

Theory time!

1. It seems that Elsa and Anna's parents are Romeo and Juliet. Star crossed lovers, from two warring faction. It makes me wonder if she ran off with their father, which result in the peace between the two sides turning into a violent conflict. Or perhaps were they married as a way to bring the two sides together, and something really bad went down.

2. Okay, so I don't know if their parents are alive obviously, but I get the feeling it is only their mother who is still alive and one of the beings they will be doing battle with in this film. Which makes me wonder, how is she being manipulated? We already know they have the ability to alter memories.

3. Also while I assume the storm that ended up "killing" their parents was potentially magical now, is it perhaps that it wasn't the forest magic folk that ended up with their mother? Were the other 3 elements perhaps kidnapped, perhaps by a secret faction inside the kingdom?

4. If Elsa is the water elemental, I wonder if there is a reason she is so "ice" based. Like is this something to do with her father not being of her mother's people?

Beyond that, Olaf with the go pro and this turning into Avatar all looks great.

Yes! I love all these theories. I had thought the same thing with regard to #1, because it definitely look so like, while the King was clearly an Arendelle native through and through, the Queen might have been one of the peoples already living in the Enchanted Forest (people who strongly resemble the Sami tribe of northern Norway). could it be that Disney is trying to go for a more culturally-sensitive story about colonialism? A quick look at the history of the Sami reveals that they were brutally persecuted by the governments of Norway, Sweden and Finland for centuries.

So apparently the ending of the movie has been leaked (as in, from one of the upcoming storybooks for the movie). It's... definitely an interesting way to end it, but I'm waiting until the film comes out to get proper context.

No "Let It Go", but definitely has potential. Idina Menzel is definitely going all out.

The new 'Let It Go'? What happened to the OLD one?

They're dreaming if they think they're going to catch lightning like that again. Constantly bringing up 'Let It Go' will just invite comparisons and lead to the inevitable, "Well, it's OK but it's not 'Let It Go'..."

I remember when Let It Go first came out, people said it didn’t touch any of the 90s Disney songs.

We don’t know what will hit until it’s out there and takes hold.
