Okay this might just be me, but...

I sat down to watch Richard Lester's original theatrical "Superman 2" one day.

When it came to the scene where Superman saves the young boy at Niagra falls, I heard something that I had to re-play a few times just to make sure it wasn't in my head.

In a wide shot of Superman, with the boy in tow, flying back up to where Lois and the onlookers reside, there's two lines of dialogue from two onlookers. And this is assuming that they are refering to Superman, which is obvious once you hear it...

"What a nice man."
"Of course he's Jewish." :-)wow:)

I couldn't believe hearing that second one. Nothing wrong with it, I'm not against Judaism or anything, but it made me laugh because it was just so out of left field.

You can just barely make them out in that shot.

Has anyone else ever noticed these before? Or am I just going mad?

I've noticed it plenty of times. It is completely out of nowhere but funny either way. I don't know why he would throw that in there.

I think it's far more obvious in the Donner Cut, but maybe that's just me.

Well, Siegel and Shuster were both Jewish, so I can't say the gal's comment about Superman came COMPLETELY out of nowhere...

yeah I could see the nod to Siegel and Shuster...But it's just weird.

The first time I heard it I was just like "What the..." and had to rewind and replay it to make sure...

no its cuz all jewish mothers think their sons are gods hahahaha quoted from Robin Williams

So they don't think they're aliens? ;)

Lester threw in a lot of off the wall comments by bystanders.

I've always loved that line. Old Jewish women love to think that anybody who is good at anything is Jewish.

So, that explains it.

I noticed it as well. I like jewish humour. Like ID4. "I'm not jewish!"; "Well, nobody's perfect".

"You know, I was having lunch with some guys from NBC, so I said, 'Did you eat yet or what?' And Tom Christie said, 'No, JEW?' Not 'Did you?'...JEW eat? JEW? You get it? JEW eat?"

-----------------------

Father: Tell me your sins, my son.
Jerry: Well I should tell you that I'm Jewish.
Father: That's no sin.

Oh, yeah, I know the line. "Of course he's jewish"...As if the rest of us mortals, non-jewish, are no good:woot: It's a funny line. Maybe it was an old jewish lady...:whatever:

I always noticed the first line but never the Jewish line. Nonetheless, that second line didn't need to be said.

Superman is a special Jewish Kryptonian. Isn't the name "Kal-El" enough to say he is Jewish? ;)

Because I'm not into comics, I went to Wikipedia to read about the character. The character definitely has many jewish influences, but still, that line in SII was funny:woot:

This is slightly unrelated but I found a pic of John Cusack that reminded me of Clark Kent in the diner scene from Superman 2. I (non-gay) love this guy! :woot:
