Animation Futurama Thread

I'm curious as to when there will be another new season, yet I'm also a little concerned that the next could feel rushed, like the last one, for the most part, did.

So, did anyone catch the season premiere of Futurama?

It was awesome. "The Bot and the Bees" was my favorite. It was very funny, and moving at the same time very moving. I hope we get to see more of Ben. I almost forgave Bender for giving his firstborn child to the Robot Devil in "The Beast with a Billion Backs", with this episode... almost. It would be cool to see the Bender firstborn child come back someday, and play of with Ben's character.

And as "Farewell to Arms" I liked that they are really moving forward with a steady relationship with Fry and Leela (not that they have another way to go), and the 3012 spoof was kinda neat. And at the end, when Fry's and Leela's arms are holding hands together in the vaccum of space, I couldn't help to think "How sweet!", and then bursting of laughter. That's the kind of laugh I can get only from Futurama.

Watched them earlier. I wouldn't say they were the ebst Futurama has offered us, but they were indeed solidly in the middle. And as wel all know, Futurama at it's worst is still better than almost everything else at it's best.

I´ll second that, heck I´ll go as far as to say it's better than any other comedy based show :woot:

These two eps weren't the best the show has ever done. I thought the second episode was better than the first if only because it focused more on Fry than Bender which I thought was a good thing.

"Sex with Zapp! Sex with Zapp! Sex with Zapp!" :funny:

Anyone watching the final season?

Tonights episode had a TON of Pop Culture Robot easter eggs

I saw:
Rosie (Jetsons)
Iron Giant
Alpha (Power Rangers)
Dalek

There were more but I couldnt identify them

I've been watching it. The episodes have been pretty crappy. Tonight's was the best so far.

I saw Alpha but not the others.

I liked the finale up until the very end. Having them live in perpetual limbo makes it feel like all the closure they promised is worthless because it doesn't actually close anything.

Yeah, this season was very disappointing.
It just seemed like almost all episodes were "one offs" but also were very bad.

The Last two Episodes were probably the best two of the season (for me).

Seems like they just really did not care.

Definitely. This season sucked. The ending was nice, but it just wasn't satisfying. I think it was the episode when Bender got his CPU overclocked, it ends with Fry and Leela reading about their future together. I thought that was better than last night's finale.

Spoilers for the finale... for anyone who hasn't seen it yet...

The season has had disappointments, especially the second half, but the finale makes up for it IMO.
I liked last night's finale. It was a fitting end to the series but it also at the last moment left it open to be continued (yet again) if they choose to do so. Fry and Leela get to live out their lives together... twice.

The only part I found disappointing (which is fortunately subverted) is they never had children.

I liked the finale, it gave the series a nice ending while still allowing me to hope the series will be revived again.

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure I read and interview somewhere with David X. Cohen stating that after this cancellation, they really had little to no interest in trying to bring the show back.

I loved the show, and it often got a chuckle out of me these past few seasons, but I don't think it ever hit the heights of previous seasons. That being said, it was touching seeing Leela and Fry living out a strange life of walking an Earth in stasis until old age.

I say raise a Slurm in remembrance and then let's all get back to watching Hypno Toad.

I thought it was funny how they ripped off the SG1 finale. Can't believe nobody has mentioned that yet

It was and wasn't a ripoff of SG-1's pseudo series finale. While it's true they aged and slowly died in SG-1 as well as formed couples there were enough differences to me not to see it as a ripoff. Similar doesn't mean the same.

So I haven't seen it being in the uk, did it get a decisive ending like I hoped or is it open ended again

Ehh in a broad strokes way. Time loop, living till old age only to reset everything. Pretty damn close ripoff. No other show has had that kind of finale other than SG1.
