FX Atlanta

The second episode blew me away.

Apart from some stellar acting on Glover's part in the therapy scenes I loved how the B-plot tied into Earn's story. As soon as she showed up to the reading and said she worked at an airport the lightbulb went off and I immediately knew what was happening. That was genius.

Ok I just finished watching episode 2 and I was wondering if they would ever bring up about what happened at Princeton so I’m glad that was brought up in the therapy session. Now that other part I could not see coming and it was a gut punch.

The idea of taking some up-and-coming White kid under your wing and molding him into your prodigy had big Justin Bieber vibes...which is made all the funnier when you remember that Justin Bieber in the world of Atlanta is Black.

Man Bieber/Usher, Kid Laroi/Bibby, Don Cannon/DJ Drama/Jack Harlow, TI/Iggy Azaelia, Diddy/MGK. Hell you can argue Dre/Eminem even if Em is really a student of rap. So many examples.

The first one that sprung to mind was Laroi & Bibby but yeah so many examples.

Only 3 eps in but Im really loving this season so far. More than season 3. It feels more collected than s3 which was still good but was missing what made Atlanta Atlanta and not just because of the setting.

Finally got a chance to watch eps 1 through 3 of this final season. Gonna miss this show.

The absurdity of Earn's "zen moment" of D'angelo-ism...:lmao:

The satire in the latest episode was on point. The rap career trajectory stuff was hilarious and accurate. The management company doing everything to save the racist Karen author's image seems like something that would happen and was especially triggering for Earn after the previous episode.

Earn losing it at the Dasani water :lmao:

Aunt Jeanie hung up when it came to that money though lol. They want to bring up old **** in the family but when it come to the money they owe they got amnesia. Yeah definitely got folks in my family like that old and young. Glad we got another episode that focused on Earn and Al’s family after Alligator Man.

I somehow completely forgot that Isiah Whitlock Jr. was in this show as Earn's dad since apparently the last time he was in an episode was way back in 2016.That being said I loved this episode to death and honestly, I could watch a whole spinoff show centered on Earn's family if it could be this hilarious.

So many great moments throughout this episode, but Michole Briania White as Aunt Jeanie had me dying the whole time and it was great seeing Cat Williams again even if it was just a few seconds.

It’s crazy how much more we’re learning about Earn this season. I like that it’s in s4… and not in s1.
Well I think they were holding back on purpose so we can see Earns actions in previous seasons and now see the reasoning behind his actions and his personality.

Another great episode. Always down for a Tyler Perry parody/satire. Can't decide if I liked this one or Boondocks'. That performance was great
Donald Glover just got himself another Emmy with that Mr Chocolate performance

Although I will say, while I still don't watch his movies, I've softened on Tyler Perry over the years. Again don't watch or even like his work, I think it's trash except maybe one movie from what I've seen but eh idk the hate for him can become too uppity

I wonder if we'll ever get proper reasoning or resolution to Van's breakdown last season. Also feel like we haven't seen Darius that much this season

Donald Glover continues to perfect the art of transformation, between this and Teddy Perkins.

Also, Darius is probably just drifting somewhere.

Great episode, I was wondering if they would do a Tyler Perry episode since season 2.
And I honestly didn't know that was Donald Glover until the very end of that scene.

Also, Zazie Beetz in that outfit tho.

I think I've only seen A Fall from Grace and Acrimony and they're pretty much black Lifetime movies but with an even less care for the filmmaking. But It's almost like he's proud that they're made in a week.

I loved this episode. Between Teddy Perkins and Kirkwood Chocolate, Glover is a master of walking the line between being hilarious and terrifying.

I feel like I'm holding out hope that after Darius's encounter with Teddy Perkins and Van's encounter with Mr. Chocolate there's a chance of seeing an episode where Alfred has a run-in with an over the top character played by Glover, especially because Brian Tyree Henry plays frustrated and annoyed so perfectly, but with only five episodes left in the series I can't see that happening. The season two episode where Alfred basically gets kidnapped by his barber is a good substitute anyway.

Yeah I've seen a few either because friends and family wanted to watch, at the barbershop, or out of morbid curiosity
Madeas Family Reunion, Daddy's Little Girls with Idris Elba and Gabrielle Union, Why Did I Get Married (the only one I enjoyed), Temptation, part of Good Deeds, Acrimony, a good amount of his show House of Payne, and one recorded play that came on DVD.

And yeah they're bad except Why Did I Get Married. Even with some of those earlier works and I was in middle school/early high school I could tell they were poorly made. He gets good actors and that's one reason I've softened my stance on him. A lot of the actors are thrown to the side by Hollywood. While he's putting them in movies I don't enjoy and least he's supporting them. Perry is actually a good actor which is the sucky thing. I wish he'd stop directing and writing and just act in other people's stuff and then lending his name to produce things

When I was younger I used to be heavy on the "Tyler Perry sucks, he has all these stereotypes, yadayada" train. But idk I just don't care much anymore. He doesn't speak to my black experience and even if he did the movies are still bad. But people enjoy them and he does speak to a good amount of people.

Wont catch me watching anything else made by him nowadays tho
