G.I. Joe (Should They???)

GI JOE is for little kids too. Who do you think were watching it in the 80's. If they make the movie, kids are who the producers are going to want to see the movie.

It's relevant because I think they might want to use the core characters from the current series.

Heavy Duty is actually Roadblock's cousin.

Agree ... we were all kids once.

But the fanbase for the original/classic series is far larger than any support for the quite frankly rubbish Sigma Six.

America's Elite IS the current comic series and it features Roadblock more than ever ..... why would they be unable to use him out of interest ??

The idea that any future movie would be based on the latest failed attempt to shift more toys is just crazy.

maybe the series storyline had roadblock being killed in action

I disagree. Transformers is not drawing from the new series "Cybertron" as the template for their characters in the movie. In fact, outside of Optimus, Megatron and Starscream, none of the characters are from that series at all.

Sigma Six uses mostly the same characters as the original classic series. And its the best selling GI JOE series in years. It moved merchandise for GI JOE like never before, they still do the classic stuff but it's not selling as well.

It's a character rights violation deal. I'm really not sure all of the specifics. But it's why we never see road block in animation form in anymore and Heavy Duty instead.

The idea that any future movie would be based on the latest failed attempt to shift more toys is just crazy.

It's hardly a failure. Once again, Sigma Six has been the most successful GI JOE series in years.

And the figures are awesome so I don't approve of the bashing.

You ignoring a very important fact. Unlike Cybertron, virtually all the characters from Sigma Six are classic Joe characters. They aren't just a bunch of newbies mixed with a couple of classics.

Here are the villains:

Cobra Commander
Destro
Baroness
Zartan
Storm Shadow

So who do you think would be used for a Joe among those?

Fair enough .... I'm glad you enjoy it.

But if a Joe film were ever made the least it would have to do is appeal to fans who have following these characters for YEARS.

Sigma Six is not as popular as you make it out to be and would never be the focus of a movie.

Wrong. This is not going to be an adult movie. They need to appeal to the new kids that also love GI JOE and are growing up with it now.

Do you think Sony was that dumb to only make a Spider-man movie that appeals to fans that were following it for YEARS?

Sigma Six is not as popular as you make it out to be and would never be the focus of a movie.

It's not a failure like you make it out to be either. I never said its the focus of a movie. It's gotten ratings and was already renewed for 2 more seasons.

I simply listed who is being used in the animated series and who is getting made new figures of these days.

Sigma Six doesn't come close the greatness that was the 3 3/4 inch Real American Hero. If they do a movie it will most definitely follow the Real American Hero, not Sigma Six. Transformers is following G1 and not any of the stupid incarnations after G1.

Once again, I never said they were following Sigma Six. Good God.

Are all of you forgetting that Joe did NOT start with 3 3/4 inch figures either.

The Sigma Six figures rock by the way. They aren't the 3 3/4 inch style but they are still good quality pieces.

No, I am not forgetting about the original G.I. Joe 12 inch figures considering my brother had them and my friend had them, but the 3 3/4 inch figures were the most popular run of the entire G.I. Joe series spanning more than 10 years. I wouldn't have a problem with Sigma Six if they didn't look like the typical idiotic anime crap that's everywhere nowadays. I like the idea of them being 7 to 8 inches tall and very articulated, but they don't compare to the 3 3/4 inch Joes and never will.

Maybe not, but they're still cool. They are basically the same thing just twice the size and more accessories like the 12 inchers. It's the best of both.

They'll more than likely follow the TF route if they do go ahead with this and have about 6 main characters on each side, and just have some grunt extras for the rest of their team if neccessary. Destro's silver head alone should make for interesting f/x work if they could make it believeable.

Not sure how Destro's head piece can work in live action.

In the comics they explain it by it being a type of advanced metal and micro-technology that forms with the shape of your face.

For Destro's head it could be a mix of silver latex and face paint with a shine sprayed on.

Thing is, it can't look like it's latex. So maybe they could touch it up in CG.

It has to look like an ultra flexible metal.

Agree.

Sigma Six is for the kids of today ... nothing more.

The 3 3/4 action figures from the 80s/90s are and always will be the definitive Gi Joe range.

why? is Hasbro exec.producing?

dont you know it....
....the best way to do this is by having G.I. joe be a brand new anti-terror team like Delta or Team six

The movie definitely needs to be a Joe origin and not so much Cobra origin. Cobra is a new terrorist organization and the Joint Chiefs and the President put operation G.I. Joe in effect where they take the best of the best out of the militray and police forces throughout the United States to start this new anti terrorism unit.

save cobra's origin for the sequel

We've seen Destro in Fantastic Four. Just look at Dr. Doom once he loses the hood. Nearly perfect for Destro.

Scarlet-Jennifer Garner

YES They should make a GI Joe movie
YES It should be classic Joe and not this Sigma Six crap

But for me, there's only ONE SCARLETT:

Maybe Jennifer Garner for LADY JANE or even Jessica Beil:
