Galactus or No Galactus?

GhostPoet said:
So...how could they kill a giant like Galactus in the movie?

Wouldn't it be cool if Ghost Rider made a cameo and takes him down like in the cartoon.

you're insane. that's purple (lighter shade) NOT pink.
it shouldn't surprise me that you can't tell the difference. No wonder you don't want the classic version. no clue about anything:woot: :woot:

anyway I'm just glad there are others here who recognize the genius in Kirby's design.

Too true. The unwashed (just kidding, ....I think) simply can't appreciate how great the design is. Nothing really like it in all of comicdom. There are more powerful beings, ala Celestials but even they do not strike as awsome an image as the now classic design of Galactus. Oh and the blue in his helmet in that issue was a coloring error at the time I think.

So you want to see something more realistic, haahhahahh, well sorry people but this is not your fathers Lou Ferigino's Hulk (loved that tv series by the way) this is Galactus the big G, the guy my mom thought was loosely based on GOD (and she did not approve). I had to convince her that I knew it was just a comic book.

This my friends is Galactus, accept no substitutes. Galactus needs to knock down a few buildings, boil a couple worlds and then you will understand what you are dealing with and understand that life is precious and for some lol, delicious...... hahahahha

I did the pic below long ago for a SHH fan art comp, the idea behing this being a crossover type deal where Galactus's design was deliberately altered to his circumstances, however if we must have a muted design for this film then going for a darker look like this with a few extra 'bells's & whistles', like refined detailing in the armor and lighting here and there thrown in, that might do the trick in appeasing those who feel the original look is too much to be done literally:

I have no problem with a black-suited Galactus, especially if they lace it all with circuitry and gadgety Kirbyish stuff.

And make him extremely huge......I want to see a Galactus that would keep Godzilla as his puppy dog.

I like it. It's basically a just muted version; considerably less garish.
I think it would work.
Well im skeptical as you know of using the whole giant Galactus idea but i think those colours mixed with the correct cinematography could work, lighting is key IMO to creating the right aura for Galactus and of course writing a theme that convey's his menace like the Vader cue in the SW movies

I didnt win, I entered a different pic (A wild west Ghost Rider one). If I remember right a kick-@ass middle-ages samurai Spider-man pic won that month (the theme was to take any hero or villain and put them in another time).
And I wasn't inspired by Imperiex (just read up on him and he looks a lot like a Celestial). My inspirations for the pic were Galactus himself and the Borg (the design is basically the same as his usual outfit, just in black/grey with some borgesque detailing/lighting thrown in)

It is people like you that set expectations so high for themselves that even if the movie was good you won't like it. :down :o

We're doing well....we had an ultrasound done last week....we're going to have a girl (I'm not allowed to come up with any comic names)...and my boy is a teenager (nuff said).

I should be able to catch up on some of my reading this weekend.:)

Luckily for me my wife already loved the name Ben. Her grandfather was a Benjamin, so a lot of folks in the family think my son is named after him. :)
Here's an odd coincidence: Ben started kindergarten yesterday, and his assigned seat is at a table for four. Two girls named Sidney and Lexie, and another little boy named...Reed.
No kidding.

That's funny about your kid's class mate....who knows, life long friends could be forging.:)

Normal sounding names like Ben are OK with my wife (except we now know it's going to be a girl of course).....she just made it clear, nothing like what Nicholas Cage did and name the kid "Kal-El"...not that I would have done that though.

My girlfriend works with a guy in his 40's named "Jor El," but he spells it "Jorel."
