Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum?

He doesn't want any of the original cast actors to appear in future X-Men films.

Anyway, it would thrill me a lot if Rogue appears in this film and Anna Paquin gets the play the role again. Hopefully a more bad-ass Rogue.

There is "want" and there is realistic expectation

Bella Donna is so not gonna be the lead female. Honestly see her and the other female lead being like Selina Kyle and Miranda Tate in TDKR.

Rogue in the film franchise has never been particularly interesting. I doubt she'd outshine Gambit.

Which begs the question: Why are so many so eager to shoehorn her into Gambit's origin? Assuming its what they're shooting for, where does she fit into an Assassins vs thieves story? Don't get it.

The same question could be said to Colossus appearing in Deadpool's origin film.

Anyway, I would like see to Rogue recruit Gambit like towards the end of the film. I bet a lot of people would be excited to see that.

For the main villain, I guess Mr. Sinister or Marauders? I think the possibility of Fox wanting to save Mr. Sinister for a X-Men team film but Mr. Sinister is also associated with Gambit in the comics, and he was also quite popular in the comics that I don't think Fox would want to wait longer to introduce him? Besides the Marauders and Mr. Sinister, I don't know any villain that could appear in this film. And Mr. Sinister could always return for a second film.

Really? Why? She seems the most likely candidate. They knew each other as kids, joined rival guilds, later got married and tragedy ensues. I'd be very surprised if they didn't use that relationship and character as a template for Gambit. Wolverine had Silver Fox and Mariko in his appropriate stories as the female leads, as does Deadpool with Nessa. Unless they just are not messing with Gambits Origins (or skimming past it) she's bound to have a big role.

It's pretty much the most character defining relationship he had.

Yeah, still waiting for her to get her due, as is Paquin. If they got her right though she'd steal the show.

Its pretty clear this wont be a one off solo gambit movie, they likely want at least 3 solo films so any thought that he will join the x-men at the end of his origin story may not be all that likely.

Think it's also safe to say at this point Fox has somewhat of a plan for these characters to meet up before the eventual sequels for Gambit and Deapdool.

Yeah. If it even happens at all, It will happen down the line.

Not quite sure where the evidence to suggest that is since they obviously wanna see the box office results for them movies before green lightin a sequel to them

They won't wait for Channing Tatum to join the X-Men after multiple solo films. Or drop him if the film fails. They want a shared universe now, not one that will take another decade.

Well its actually the fans who want a shared universe now, no one knows what it is fox want from this universe, all we really know judging by what they have been trying to do is that they want more X-Men related projects then just the main X-Men team movies

i think its fan expectation is that they are trying to copy marvel with the MCU but it doesn't seem like fox have a plan, they just take it a project at a time

We all know Gambit and Deadpool are connected in a shared universe. F4 is the only one that's debatable. SDCC was a pretty big hint imo. Reynolds also hinted that they (Fox) have a "master plan". DOFP was needed to erase stuff, they had to lay the ground work first. But they won't keep X-Men characters like these guys away from big X-Men projects after their intro next year. If their movies fail they get shoved to ensemble with no more solos.

To have an A list actor playing Gambit but not crossover with other X-Men projects for over 5 years would be an extremely odd/bad decision. It's not that fans just want them to set things up anymore, it's that they need to now with all they have going on. Or else it will just look like a random mess of a Universe. Their Universe of characters is what they were trying to push at the end of SDCC this year.

Is the budget for this really going to be $150 million +? Too much if so, IMO anyway.

Not the first time marvel have made 2 movies of a solo character before doing a cross over like iron man 1 & 2 for example, same with fox already setting a F4 sequel date before a X-MEN/F4 cross over

and tatum is gonna be gambit till at least 2021 depending on the success of the solo and how fast they make the sequels so its not like they plan on stopping at some point

Also many already think its a random mess of a universe esp when they try and say all the films are connected

The filming application thing they filed in Louisiana certainly has that as the budget. If its accurate then its a real commitment by Fox to the character, a lot more than FF or The Wolverine. For that kind of investment they must have real plans for the character, they might be trying to push him as a lead character post-Jackman.

the idea that they would put more into gambit then jackmans the wolverine is abit odd tbh

Iron Man 1 and 2 started it all with the shared stuff for the MCU. There was no Cap or Thor prior. Not comparable because Gambit is not the start of X-Men. It's already set up. See how fast Black Panther, Spider-Man and Ant-Man are joining? They can do that cause other films layed the ground work. In Fox's case theirs was DOFP, which gave them a clean slate. After next year all these X films will be in motion and need to work together after in some form or another.

Adding Gambit (a known X-Men) and lagging for years on including him in a crossover or just general X-Men films will not look good for the producers or studio.

At least with F4 it's a separate IP non X-Men related. So nobody will care. Only reason that's being talked about is cause of studio not source. Gambit however is known specifically for being an X-Men. Too many people are aware that's his home.

That's just crazy to me, the character and his powers don't need that type of budget in my eyes, this should have a budget of around 80-100 like Deadpool.

Why are we concerned about the budget? It's not our money.

That just sounds like more confidence from the studio to me. Don't see how it's a bad thing in any way. Fox has known when to hold back, or be cautious with money recently.

And again, the $150 is probably before tax breaks.

Let's also remember that for the most part, these X-Men films film 90% in studio, and 100% in one locations (Montreal, Vancouver, London).

It seems like Tatum is amendment they film in actual locations around Louisiana. That's pricey.

Nah, Louisiana is becoming a popular state for filming as it gives massive tax breaks. They might be able to claim back $30 million of the $150 million budget by filming there.
