Apocalypse Channing Tatum As Gambit?

Maybe they'll give Gambit some friggin' red and black eyes for once, and not just for one scene.

At first I couldn't stand that they went with Channing for Gambit. It was definitely a move to get a bigger name into the franchise, and up until now, Fox had been really respectable with choosing good actors rather than just famous people.

However, after having time to process, Tatum might be a best-of-both-worlds sort for the franchise. He's a bankable star. He's a good enough actor for the part (I honestly don't see it as a very dramatic role) and he's actually going to be filming Magic Mike 2 soon so he's going to get back in shape and shed those "dad pounds" that he's been gaining. In actuality he kind of looks like Gambit... especially in the eyes.

After years and years of having dream castings in my head, it's finally time to stop hoping that they'll cast characters to look and feel exactly like what I want them to be like based on the comics. It's just never going to happen so no need to really stress about it anymore!

Tatum is getting universal acclaim out of the Cannes Film Festival for his performance in Foxcatcher.

The guy is coming into his own as an actor, and I've eaten my crow.

If i was told that tatum was gambit a few years ago i would have been pissed but seeing that hes playing gambit now doesnt bother me at all, hes pretty much an established actor so ill wait and see. I just hope gambit gets good screen time and actually has some sort of purpose for the film rather than just being shoehorned for the sake of fanboys. BTW i just saw Xmen DOFP and i was mind blown on how good it was!!!!! damn that film was good.

I don't love it. He's not a great actor and he's not even that hot.

That said I don't really care as much for gambit as I do for the other xmen so it won't be a deal breaker

Wow! Looks somewhat passable & I'm not even a Tatum fan! :hubba

I might see this, if he will be nominated at The Oscars next year= JACKPOT for FOX! :woot:

And in friggin' Orgins, Texas Gambit didn't even say 'mon chere' or 'petite' or speak in third person. BS I say, to Texas Gambit.

I do think Tatum can pull off Gambit. He has that smug pretty boy look to his face. He just needs to grow out some fuzz and please give him black and red eyes.

Hmm as long as he has the personality and style like in the old xmen cartoon on channel five then I'm with it.

You're right, he's a fantastic actor! Foxcatcher!

Channing Tatum would only work in a movie featuring the Original Cast. If they are going with younger versions in Apocalypse set in the 80s, Channing may be the oldest of the X-Men... LOL

Plus it would be great to see him opposite Anna Paquin's Rogue. Just another reason to use the OT Cast in Apocalypse.

Yea i just cant see gambit in the first class timeline with rogue being a young adult in the future.

Channing needs to nail that accent its vital or i throw popcorn at the screen.

I prefer Gambit to have the long hair

For this movie, I hope they keep his hair short.

Channing Tatum is charming and attractive, which makes him a good Gambit. And on top of that he likes the character and is enthusiastic. He's also a funny guy, which is important since Gambit has a sense of humour. Honestly though, Gambit is a fun character, but doesn't exactly require a nuanced or skilled performance.

I agree. My initial reaction was happiness when I heard he was cast. Plus he was interested in playing him, seems like he's also a fan which helps the character.

Totally agree with you here.

I Don't think they have any intention of exploring rogue and gambit in any way tbh, I think that's just just a fanboy dream, and it's already been said singer wants apocalypse to feature mutants of all ages, nightcrawler, quicksilver and gambit would be in his 20s

Gambit replacing Wolverine as the main lead makes sense.

Eh I would rather they try a bit harder for more of an ensemble. I love the xfilms but I just think that would be good from now on
