Easily explained with the line "The things I do for love." He would never do that under regular circumstances.

There's also the whole Kingslaying thing. The Kingsguard are supposed to die at their post protecting the King no matter who that King is and no matter who's knocking down the door to come get that King (Tywin's army). [BLACKOUT]So when it's brought up that he has s**t for honor it's a very valid point.[/BLACKOUT]

Well, there's a whole hell of a lot of context involved in that. We saw the beginning of that this past Sunday, with Jaime explaining that he thought of Ned's father and brother, whom Aerys murdered pretty horribly, when he killed Aerys. It's definitely not a black-and-white issue.

I'm never coming back to this thread. You guys can't separate yourselves from the spoilers.

:argh:

:doom: :doom: :doom:

What spoiler? This was all mentioned in the most recent episode or earlier.

Oh, well, read the books. They're awesome. :)

I've heard the show is going to diverge from the books a bit more in future seasons, too.

Amazon just sent me an email saying that the books I ordered have been shipped, so it won't be long before I get to start reading them. :yay:

Diverge as in condensing and expanding certain aspects of the story. They've never said they were going to diverge like True Blood did. I don't think GRRM would have given this over to someone like Alan Ball.

I'm always going to be one week behind you guys. :(
Dinklage steals every moment he's on screen, he should be nominated and win an Emmy, he freaking deserve it. For Bran I wish that they show the [BLACKOUT]three eyed crow dream scene[/BLACKOUT].

And I really badly want to see how they handle Syrio in the show.

How they handle Syrio in what way? we have seen him, we know how they are going to portray him.

As for Syrio's dance itself. I always imagined it as something akin to Kalarippayattu or Chinese Swordsmanship (specifically using the Jian) because both styles tend to be very fluid, non-resisting, circular, and uses double bladed swords so it relates to the common Westerosi Bastard Sword quite well.

Like I said, I'm always an episode and week behind on what the show is currently on so I haven't seen episode 3 yet, nor Syrio so that's what I meant on the latter part of my previous post.

Well, not overt ones, I suppose. But put yourself in Joffrey's shoes and you can see how he got to be the way he is. He's been told from the moment he was born that he'd grow up to be the most powerful man in the Seven Kingdoms, plus his mother clearly spoils the hell out of him on top of that, as we saw in this past Sunday's episode.

seriously...so Corp...your feelings on Littlefinger still the same?

Great freaking show! So is the imp good or bad??? Never read the books

Heroes No real or villains man, thats what makes them interesting. 7 kingdoms, long seasons meaning limited resources (how does one prepare for a 17 year winter like Ned grew up in?), desperation and a desire to grab more resources drives people.

That's the beauty of these books, you can hate and like (not often love) the characters but they cannot easily be classified as "good" or "evil". They are people with agendas in a harsh world.

Loved the last episode. It is so nice to have the story unfold through great dialog.

I was wondering, why haven't they shown us Jon's dire wolf yet? We haven't seen it on screen since they found the pup. I'm trying to remember it from the books but I only seem to recall the other ones.

Now that you mention resources. Maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen the glass gardens in Winterfell. I always thought that greenhouses would be massive in a world like this.

He was in Episode 2 just barely. In the establishing shot of the camp where Jon and Tyrion talk about his new brothers there's a brief shot of Ghost laying down just outside the camp site. If you blink though you'll miss it.

A lot of stuff seems to be "blink and you'll miss it." I worry that certain elements will seem to come out of no where because they don't have time, I guess, to develope them. I read the first half of the first book years ago, and watching this so far I can't help but get the feeling I'd be mostly lost without it. We'll see how I feel later in the season when I get past the point I read, and how clear everything is then.

Well the people who've seen the first six episodes say he'll be there and not to worry too much about it. I do think however it wouldn't have hurt to have a 2 sec. shot of him just to establish that he's there.
