he's a decent fit...he can be an insufferable prick if needs be....it's called 'acting'

im more worried about the casting of Littlefinger.

Someone with the right sarcasm and slickness needs to get this job...He literally is one of the key characters here.

My ideal choice for Jaime would have been Josh Hollaway from LOST.

How about Locke for Tywin?..meh dunno.

But i really hope these kids can act cause this series revolves around them

I wouldn't count on a lot of American actors to be involved with this. Part of the deal they cut to keep costs down was to employ a certain percentage of Britsh Equity Guild. So far there's only two American actors Momoa and Dinklage.

Nothing I guess if you are into that sort of thing. I studied English Literature and Journalism in college so paper is how I work. I could never sit passively while someone drone on and on and on. Besides, I read way faster than any person reading.

I'm interested in your opinion of how the books are written. Some people (CHUD.com mostly) have called them truly awfull writing. I'm no English or Journalism major so I don't have a keen eye for that sort of thing. The story (so far) has kicked major ass and I can't wait till this thing is out and all the non-book reading geeks get their minds blown. What is your take?

CHUD is filled with anger, hate, and bile....moreso than the average internet "journalists"

Awfull writing...

Okay, let's see... An awesome and elaborate story. Sophisticatedly written, intriguing and well-developed characters. A nice plot structure that allows us to see the events unfolding through the eyes of many different characters. How is that awful?

Some might say that Martin's writing style is rather simplistic and has a bit of a "no-nonsense" feel to it, without much fancy metaphores and artistic eloquence, but since when this is awful? Sure, some of his characters use foul language and - gasp! - have sex (eewww!), but that's not neccessarily bad or even gimmicky; it's just a realistic view of a gritty world full of imperfect human beings and I find it bold and cool.

The only criticism that I have about Martin as a writer is his horribly slow progress with both AFFC (5 years in the making and with only half the cast and story!) and ADWD (close to 5 years, again, and still not done!).

I wonder if Momoa's new found buff-ness will effect his role?

Here's Hodor and the Knight of Flowers. Maester Aemon or Pycelle is Roy Dotrice(not confirmed yet).

Hodor Hodor Hodor!

The Knight Of Flowers doesn't sit right with me though. He may be young but he came across as more mature looking than this guy.

the Hodor guy is like 6'10 so that's good. Knight of Flowers is supposed to be a pretty boy so looks like they got one. I'm interested in who they get for Renly now. Roy Dotrice as Maester Pycelle is now confirmed which is a good choice for him. Littlefinger should be annouced any day now.

Renly is someone I'm really interested in too.

Odd that you mention Littlefinger because something occurred to me. In the books they can look at a eunuch and just tell. Now I don't know how to spot a dude without his stuff and I'm not sure the rest of us are good at spotting that. So I wonder how they are going to make the distinction between them and real men.

Eunichs never hit puberty. They lose there stuff before they do which allows them to retain their young male voice which was the point of being a eunich. It offered a unique sound to the choir, because young prepubescent males can sing in a tone that is lost after puberty. So a grown eunique would show a lack of testerone in their build and voice. God it is sick thinking about the fact this practice used to be so commonplace.

You are mistaking a Castrato for a Eunuch. What you described is a Castrato. Eunuchs were servants or slaves that were castrated to serve in positions of lowly domestic roles (i.e. guarding harems, serving in private chambers, making beds, etc.).

Yeah man. That was a castrati you described. In many cases in these books these are grown men who are castrated. Lord Varys was young I'll admit, but a good many of them (including many of the unsullied as well as that big guy with the scars on his stomach) were adults.

Both are castrated tho. So both would show a lack of testosterone in their development would they not?

Well in the case of castrated adults, they would have a drop off in testosterone. But after going through puberty I think the extent might be weight gain, slightly higher voice and less facial hair.

Also the thought was that by castrating adult males they would lose their libido so they could be trusted to not bang the women in a harem, and lose the aggressive (male) nature and be trusted to not kill you in your sleep and be trusted with sensitive information.

Samwell Tarly was casted perfectly. The others aren't too shabby either.
