Honestly, my prediction for game of the year is for GTA4. There are a LOT of people who will tell you it's like the "best game ever" just because so many people have played it and like it.

Either MGS4, GTA4 or Guitar Hero/Rockband....It's not about good gaming anymore, it's about popularity.

I'm referring to rockband/guitar hero when I say that. Because those games never deserved sequels. A "sequel" could have been done through DLC, they just wanted a way to cash in. MGS4 and GTA4(even though I have/had more fun with Saints Row 2...), are still amazing games.

No, i dont think thats the case. You look at some of the past GoTY winners, games like Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, God of War and Half Life 2 and you see true quality.
GTA IV is a great, well made game and thats not up for debate. Sure its wildly popular and theres a reason for that. I'm not saying its the greatest thing ever or its perfect, but there is a good reason it gets the accolades it does and if it takes GoTY then i wouldn't be too disappointed. IMO tho, it should be a no brainer as MGS4 is one of the greatest achievements in video games. The cinematics are better than some Oscar winning films, it has a gripping story, the voice acting is top notch, the visuals are the best we've seen this gen and the game play is really smooth. Fallout 3 would be another game i think could take it. Now that i think about it, there has been some really GREAT games this yr.

By the way I'm using the Academy of Interactive Arts and Science for the GoTY awards.

I'm not going to buy a new system just for 1 game

Metal Gear Solid 4 was pretty decent. I wouldn't say it has the best graphics of this generation though, best presentation perhaps.

Well here's a thread to discuss the negative without being viewed as a bad guy.

- Littlebigplanet will be an excellent game but in this age of one man army blood bath shooters it will not appeal to many with the snooty attitude that it is a "childs game" (Same with World of Goo wich is a superb game).

- Tomb Raider: Underworld looks more of the same, Lara Croft will go the way of Sonic

- Dragons Age will not be a worthy spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, it will score poorly on graphics.

- Left4Dead will be ported to the ps3.

- Unreal Tournament 3's expansion pack will sell poorly.

- Dead Space will sell poorly but still be/is a decent game.

- We will get 20 more metal gear solid sequels, involving a clone of a clone of a clone or a clone with an even more weird and convoluted story untill they milked it dry.

- Halo's expansion pack will suck a fat one but sell like hot cakes.

-Fable 2 will fix the problems of Fable but still be pretty shallow.

- Dawn Of War 2 will be better than Starcraft but sell much, much less.

- Dawn Of War 2 will be much better than Halo wars but sell much, much less.

- Wrath Of The Lich king will be more of the same but get overrated like hell.

-Fallout 3 will have NPC's with the personality of a cardboard box an inferior post apocalyptic atmosphere to S.T.A.L.K.E.R with a bland story, yet be praised as the next coming of Christ regardless.

- Bioware will make a better MMO than Blizzard. It Will not kill world of warcraft but it will dent it.

- Fear 2 will flop

- Call Of Duty: World At War will be surprisingly good. Many people will buy it thinking it is "Call Of Duty 5" made by the same people.
