Garbage

They peformed at KAABOO festival this month and the concert was live streamed. I watched it and it was awesome. Shirley sounded really good and it's great to see Butch on drums again. I wish more of their concerts would get streamed. There are many from Not Your Kind of People Tour but not after that.

Shirley received NME Icon Award yesterday!

They are also working on a new album right now and more 20 Years Paranoid tour dates have been announced. New promo pics are great

It's gonna be an amazing year to be a Garbage fan. My absolute favorite album of all time is Version 2.0

Already saving to go to multiple shows.

Also, glad Shirley is getting the recognition she deserves.

The recent album was awesome. Man, Garbage has to be my all-time favorite pop band, hands down.

20th Anniversary reissue of Version 2.0 has been announced:

“Version 2:0 is in my opinion the quintessential Garbage record. We are all very grateful to the millions of people who took it to their hearts at the time it was released and to those who continue to love on it still”.

Shirley Manson

"Garbage are delighted to announce the release of the 20th anniversary edition of their legendary second album Version 2.0. Released on Stunvolume/[PIAS] on 22nd June, Version 2.0 has been remastered for the 20th anniversary and the package features the whole original album, as well as ten B-sides from the era. The standard remastered album is available on CD or orange 2LP, while the deluxe edition with bonus tracks is available in a very special 3LP package with poster and stickers, or as a double CD. Both the standard edition and the deluxe edition will also be available digitally to purchase or stream."

Upon its initial release in May 1998, Version 2.0 charted at Number 1 and was certified double platinum in the UK with over 500,000 sales. The record went on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide. Version 2:0 was also nominated for four Grammys including Album Of The Year and three MTV Europe Awards. It produced 5 top 20 singles in the UK alone, including the Top 10 singles Push It and I Think I’m Paranoid.

Speaking about the enduring legacy of the record, the band’s drummer and co-producer Butch Vig explains:

“Version 2.0 is the sound of a band growing up, evolving, and more than anything, gaining confidence. When we started recording, we made a conscious decision to not re-invent ourselves, but rather take everything we learned from our debut album and filter it through the new digital technology we were grappling with. Sonically, the album has moments of razor sharp clarity and soft beauty. Indeed, it’s possibly our best album”.

Garbage will be playing a series of live dates in support of the Version 2.0 reissue, including two headline shows at London’s Brixton Academy on the 14th and 15th of September. The shows will see the band perform the classic album in full, as well as a number of B-sides included on this release."
I might buy this so I can get the B-sides. Sounds like a great release. I wish they would have included The World Is Not Enough.

Waiting for them to release an autographed boxset or something in order to place my preorder.

I really want to see that show; love Alanis and Garbage (though I've never gotten the fascination people have with Liz Phair). But LAWN seats for that show where they're playing near me are $99. I'm not sure I'm willing to fork over that kind of cash to sit on a blanket in the grass.

That's steep for lawn tickets, you sure they're not resale ones? I got mine for $105 before fees and i's toward the front.

New album No Gods No Masters is coming on June 11:

I really like the song. They are releasing 2-disc version too that includes all the Record Store Day singles since 2012. I will probably pre-order that.

Great song and video. I think its better than the first song.

Brilliant, brilliant album. I can’t believe they’re so late into their career and making music that sounds like them yet sounds fresh and new. No other band or artist from this era does this other than NIN.

I really like it too. I got lucky and my copy arrived one day early. My favorite songs are Uncomfortably Me and This City Will Kill You.

I’ve listened to it once during the virtual listening party. I’m hoping to score the RSD release tomorrow to listen to in on vinyl. My order from their store is expected to arrive next week.

20th anniversary edition of Beautifulgarbage is getting released today:

I haven't listened all the b-sides so I will buy this at some point. There are also remixes and alternate versions.

I've been randomly hearing "Only Happy When It Rains" more in the past two months than I have in the past 20 years. Great song, too.
