Really good box office run that should see it around 850m WW. Crazy after Dominion seemed to destroy all goodwill. Folks really seem to dig it. I'm thinking the secret screenings skewed the Cinemascore.

Definitely didn't collapse like you would expect a B to do. Although it is a question of how big the OW would have been, and thus how much that second weekend drop would have been if it had opened in a traditional way.

And it was done without Imax

The raptor scene should have been kept in. Not because it has substance or necessary, but just to get them a little more screentime that didn't involve someone taking a piss the whole time they were on screen.

Well I finally saw this and I believe my original assumption was true. I think Gareth Edwards came way late into the process (David Leitch was at one point in talks too) and he wasn't given much creative freedom. His eye for directing is still there (there are some great sequences and visual moments for sure) but I don't believe for a second this is the movie he would've done if he had been involved from the very start.

Finally saw it and I loved it, simple adventure story, likable characters, and spectacular action sequences in a stunning location, a great time at the movies.

I really liked Zora, Scarlett played her with a sense of fun and humour, but an obvious heart underneath the cynical front and amongst the loss she'd suffered, and I thought the Delgado family were great, they added an everyday human element.

All of the action sequences were fantastic, I especially loved the Mosaurus sequence, and the raft sequence with the T-Rex, which I believe is from the original novel. Even the scene where they get the Titanosaur blood was beautifully effective, as Zora and Henry are struck by the wonder of what they are seeing. I also thought the D-Rex worked, that thing was the most terrifying beast we've seen in a Jurassic movie.

It was nice to have a beginning, middle and an end with a good message, but hopefully there's a sequel.

Given the timeline, 0%. He likely walked because he wanted to make changes, to make it more "his". This was a journeyman director gig. Which is also why the film likely didn't look as good as you would expect from Gareth Edwards.
