Sci-Fi Gareth Edwards's Jurassic World Rebirth

This franchise needs to stop with that 'people got tired of dinosaurs' narrative. It is so stupid. This franchise only survives because people love dinosaurs so much.
I agree with this. People still go to zoos and aquariums. There's no way people would get tired of going to see dinosaurs, especially in a universe where they've only been able to see them for about 20 years or so once Jurassic World opened.

And how much work goes into creating reasons for people to come back to zoos and aquariums. Yeah, it is chalked up as tired of seeing dinosaurs, but you are not exactly going to book a trip yearly for the exact same thing. Yeah, they played up nerd Bailey's exhibit coming down, but like, museums do that all the time.

Sure, but Jurassic World before the incident was basically the equivalent of going to Disney World. It would have attracted millions of visitors from all over the world since it was the only place to see dinosaurs.

I day lean into dinosaur apathy! I want the next movie to have dinosaurs busking on the streets of New York and holding up signs that say “ WILL ROAR FOR FOOD” while people just ignore them and stare at their phones.

But post-Fallen Kingdom, dinosaurs are everywhere so it’s no longer the only place.

I think specifically they push that kids are already born into a world where you can see a dinosaur rustling in your garbage at night so they’re losing their majesty and awe to that generation who never knew a world without them living.

I agree though it’s not fun for your movie to have your kid character say, “I hate dinosaurs”.

I agree that doing the whole "people would get bored of dinosaurs" does feel crazy considering we do have real life examples of parks (zoos or amusement parks) always being crowded year after year and something exotic like a dinosaur island wouldn't lose its appeal that quickly.

Feels like Fallen Kingdom and onwards they don't really know a good purpose for how to use the dinosaurs though. The whole militarization of dinosaurs was really stupid to me because if you get close enough to your target that you can aim your sights to them (triggering the dinosaur's killswitch) you'd be better off just killing them with a sniper rifle. And with weapons like bombs or missiles, sending dinosaurs into another country or city would just seem like a bigger headache for yourself.

Then you have the other angle of using dinosaur chunks for medical research and healthcare and some of it works some of it doesn't. I guess it gives us a reason to interact with the dinosaurs again but it doesn't feel particularly interesting to me.

Yeah but at the same time if you hear that there's a wild grizzly bear roaming around near your home you're not going to actively go looking for it as opposed to seeing one within the safe confines of a zoo. It was also unclear just how common they were around the world post-Fallen Kingdom pre-Rebirth what with a lot of them being rounded up and brought to Dodgson's sanctuary in Fallen Kingdom. Either way the "people are getting sick of dinosaurs" narrative is farfetched, even for that universe.

I volunteer at an owl sanctuary in the middle of nowhere. Every day there's somebody interested in seeing an owl. Animals are cool. Massive animals are even cooler.

Hot take here but the original Jurassic Park wasn't so interested in dinosaurs like the later sequels would lead you to believe. Sure, there were dinosaurs, but it was the suspense and the horror and the characters that carried that movie. The place itself was the true protagonist. Much like the Friday the 13th movies... yes, it's Jason, but it's also the summer camp. You know what I mean? You really can't duplicate that without having diminishing returns every time.
