Gears of War

This scene gets me everytime. But man... I'm skeptical they can create good war drama. It has to be R. It has to be character-driven. It needs large budget.
Oh yeah ^ :csad:, although Marcus was the lead, Dom's arc became part of the driving heart and soul of the franchise.
They probably won't revisit it though.

The Coalition that develops new Gears of War content and the franchise co-creator, said the film would not be based on any particular game but would instead be a new story set in the universe.
Unfortunately^, although I am curious to see what and who they come up with in this universe.

They have to go balls to the wall insane with this movie, it wouldnt work as a war drama, Gears as a whole is a crazy ass game, and the movie should be just as crazy.

Thumbs up to the whole "balls to the wall insane ... crazy ass game", but I'm not sure where you are drawing a line, it is, and needs to be a war drama, even the game developers got that. (see the scene OutOfBoose cites above^)
Without the dramatic character driven elements and arcs, what's the point of even making it a film?
Maybe I don't get why you think that won't work?

GoW trilogy had many great moments - epicness, suspence and action, humour... but Dom's arc is the biggest reason the series stays in my memory.

Precisely. All good movies have that. Even balls to the wall one-big-action-scene films like Fury Road.
