When in doubt, defer the responsibility hahahaha

My guess is the Democrats are going to use the entire fund meant for R&D on fuel efficient vehicles and green projects to bailout the big three. This fund has the least roadblocks. After the bailout, they will probably slowly bankrupt anyways (as Romney argues) or ask for another bailout.

UAW is giving a fun press conference on CNN stream.

"The auto industry invented the Middle Class. Is the goal for everyone to make minimum wage?"

I was going to say something about your fear mongering. But I am not going to at the moment.

If they use the bail-out at it was intended they shouldn't slowly bankrupt if they use it smart and don't pocket it the money like some of the banks did with the $700 billion bailout. But in any event, isn't it time for people to actually start turning off the televisions, stop reading the articles, and actually look for something to escape the constant bad news? I'm just saying when do people have enough? Are people happy with living in fear these days?

When times are tough, people want to know what's going on....I wish it was an attitude people had all the time

Once you find out what's going on turn off the television, stop looking for news on the internet, and don't listen to the media. Why? The media will always overblow the situation and cause panic instead of rational thought and hope.

Hence why I refuse to watch, listen, or even attempt to discuss the economy or go into deep detail in terms of discussion because I know people are afraid and I rather be away from fear. There's more to life itself than being afraid of something that could not, might not, and will not happen.

No, they just want to know what's going on.

That's better the ignoring reality IMO.

As I said before, once you find out what's going on, turn off the news and don't completely immerse yourself with the overblown media who wants to put people in fear and cause panic.

maybe it's time Americans were a little scared....we've gone soft....

Fear is false evidence appearing real. If you're life isn't at stake or you're not physically threatened there's no reason to be afraid. One thing I've come to realize is the media has perfected the art of causing fear and wanting to cause panic.

If all of these posters are doing is watching the news 24/7, reading it 24/7, and not doing anything else except immersing themselves in constant bad news what do you expect? Of course people will be afraid. Hence why this forum can be and should be used as an escape rather than a forum to discuss politics, the economy, and so forth.

But that is just my opinion on the situation.

That's not entirely true. The economy, the banks and car industry collapsing can affect many people. It just depends on whether theyre close enough to get hit in the process.

True.

I agree we shouldn't allow it to rule our lives.

Well of course, animals use it when they feel threatened. If a squirrel see's a human walking towards them they're natural instinct is to run. That's a normal reaction and I'm not going to disagree with you on that.

My point is I honestly truly believe that people immerse themselves in the news too much. It's the reason why a lot of people run out making huge mistakes because they listen to the news 24/7 and there's never any good news to be discussed, so when the discussion is taking place it's all about fear, cut to a commerical cause more fear, and so forth.

I am not trying to FLAME anyone in this forum. I just feel there's too much fear mongering in a thread, how is that problem? I'm not trolling nor am I trying to start an argument.

We as people tend to let the media control our lives instead of trying to escape it. There's no denying the economy is in bad shape, but if all you're going to do is watch the news 24/7 what kind of emotion do people expect? It's an honest question and one I feel shouldn't be punished.

What if it's not your life and limb being threaten, but your property, and your liberty? What if we have already given our elected representitives too much power? They no longer work for us, we work for them?

We give them money, so they can pay off their cronies, or transfer State Confiscated Wealth to their Friends? Or, they steal property, and give it to people that will continue to elect them, so they can steal more wealth and more power?

I say, Give me liberty, or give me death. What worth is life, if you can't live it for yourself?

A lot of it was caused by people not standing up to the politicians in general.

Certain people allowed politicians to put them in a state of fear and that state of fear allowed an illegal war to take place that resulted in BILLIONS of dollars to be spent. I truly believe, and this is my opinion as well, if they were to end the war in Iraq right now and use that $10 billion a month that's being used there and use it here? You would see some significant change in the job market, the stocks, and so forth.

What needs to happen is the housing prices need to come down, gas needs to continue going down, and jobs need to be created. When they shipped the majority of the good/great paying jobs overseas they hurt the economy as well.

I said from the beginning that if the bailout was approved they should personally see to it that the money is used for the right reasons.

But I refuse to live in fear and watch the news, read articles, and so forth because I know it's going to be bad news. When do we as people realize that it's simply not worth it?

Then, in that case, you have to solve the problem as to Why the jobs are moving overseas? You think corporations Want to spend the money and infrastructure on setting up shop overseas? No, they only do so, because it is cheaper to set up shop there, than to pay the increasing amount of Corporate Taxes.

Cut Corporate Taxes, and you guarentee jobs stay home. If jobs stay home, more Americans are working, then they are paying taxes, investing in the Stock Market, and living better lives.

cutting corporate taxes will not offset a company that can save a ton of money in renting a cheap building, or paying people overseas much much less than what they would have to pay an American workforce....

How will GM manufacturer product in a cheaply rented building? They will have to hire people that are trained, or train them. They will have to install the equipment to make the product. They will have to ship the product here. They will have to get in line with that countries Labor laws, and manufacturing laws, and everything else that goes along with it. The ability to make the product is already here, if they don't have to spend a huge precentage of time trying to figure out the best way to keep the most of their money, they won't even think about moving.

but unions and employee wages eat up a lot of money...and a good number of countries outside the US don't really care about labor laws that much.....

That is true, Unions are only apart of the problem. IE, Toyato not having the same issues.

But, as a company, they weigh the options, what is cheaper? Building a New Factory, or stay here, and pay the Government? Sometimes it option A, and sometimes its Option B.

Believe me, I deal with this at my jobs, weighing costs of Production from country to country. If we could do everything here, we would, but can't.

Well folks

Apparently Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) and Dongfeng Motor Corporation, has the capability and intent to buy some assets off GM and Chrysler. The vultures are coming in for the kill :woot:

Good news. Maybe we can go a couple more months before someone else asks for a bailout.

Like I said, Big Oil will need one soon.
