I should have seen that coming

I honestly forgot about him. Which makes no sense at all. :funny:

Gilroy taking over directing the reshoots AND editing is worrying. If Edwards is still there it's because of DGA rules. The man clearly doesn't have control anymore, otherwise, why bring in a filmmaker like Gilroy? I think the problems are more than just tone. I think it has to do with character too and other things and tone is just a way to superficially help fix bigger problems. Or he made an unimpressive gritty war SW film.

I'm not ready to write the film off and I'm not saying this is a SS situation. I'd like to give Kennedy and Disney more credit than WB, but given the state of movies and how this year has been, I'm not ruling anything out anymore. Crazier **** has happened and when it comes to making movies. I'm just not excited for this movie. Even if it is good, it's still a movie where we know what the end result is. This year of film has totally taken the wind out of my sails.

I'm not ready to write the film off either but it is worrisome. I also laugh at the THR article for mentioning that Gareth is still giving his "input", yeah let's get input from the guy that we replaced with not one but two directors, lol.

If he was as out as you said, then I doubt he would've shown up at Celebration.

I do think he is giving his input. But, the movie was too much for him. So, he is stepping back somewhat.

Yeah, I mean you look at most other projects in life outside of film, if they bring in an older more experienced guy, you may just learn with him and work together. I've done it in my profession many times.

As said above, tone really had nothing to do with it. There was rumblings that it may have been too dark, but that was shoved out when at the License Convenion in June at Vegas where the LFL person pretty much was talking about toys (the big bread and butter of SW) saying Rogue One will not have as much toys because it's aiming at a little older audiance with it's tone. They would not be saying that in terms of toys if it was not the case.

But characters, yeah, Edwards as a few of us have discussed for a while, characters are not his strong suit, I think he's a good story teller, and director, but I feel he does not get the best all the time of his actors. Like with Godzilla there was some great characters, but the two main ones were bland, not good, not bad, just functional. I have a feeling that is what Tony is there for. As EW and I think THR originally said Disney liked the film but thought the characters need to pop more. That to me reads, some of the characters were just there, and they want them to be amazing, especially after how well people connected with TFA's characters.

I think that is going to be the primary focus is character moments, and beats. It seems that's what is being said out there.

But Serpico if you are worried about this I'd say it's a good omen, because you were worried a lot about TFA too ;).

I think that no matter what the state, he'd have to be at Celebration if they told him to be there. Because that is the contract. Also Edwards seems to be a professional unlike say Trank. He'll do his duty.

You can also tend to tell when someone is being positive for the press.

I don't know. My impression on Edwards is that Rogue One was too much for him. So, he is accepting help.

I found the whole tone of that press conference to be really strange. Part of that was Christe, but part of it was something else. There was something oddly nervous about it.

If Edwards did that, good on him. If the movie works out, he'll great credit.

I was not worried about TFA during and after filming. Their was radio silence for a while during preproduction that worried me a little but it was settled after Arndt left.

I love Christie, but I always find her awkward in most public settings, maybe it's just me. I just thought most of Celebration Europe was meh, even the future film-makers panel was underwhelming.

Yeah but my point still stands. Not that there is anything wrong with it.

It was. Only The Rebels panel and some of the stuff with Mark and Carrie was really worth the effort imo.

Little bit of spoiler news.

Jimmy Smits confirmed that he is in Rogue One, though a small part.

Cool news for me since I like the actor and charater!

Not surprised that this film might not hit. Godzilla was a real letdown for me and I actually fell asleep in the theater. Hopefully Gilroy fixes all the problems as much as possible.

I still have faith in the film despite the re shoots and Gilroy taking care of business. Edwards is a decent director and if he just ran into some issues that he needed help with then well at least it's getting fixed as much as possible now than at the last minute. Disney and Lucasfilm doesn't interfere as bad as some other company's and so that helps!

Godzilla's biggest problem was its script in my opinion. Had there been more time, WB should have just gotten Frank Darabont to redo the whole thing instead of just touching up the first act.

Just watched that video on youtube, his reaction that anyone even spotted him in the background was funny.

Rogue one feels like the amalgamation of the prequels, the cartoons and the originals.

LOL he said "people got nothing better to do..."
True!
Based on a blurry behind the scenes single frame image, with over 50% of his head and face blocked by a camera, and the angle of his cloak. They found him in the movie. LOL!:funny:

Star Wars fandom welcomes back Bail Organa! .:woot:

Awesome! I love the effort they are making to keep the same cast from the prequels for even small cameo roles.

Now, if we can just get a force ghost Ewan in Episode 8 or 9.

They did get him to do a line for TFA.
